1 out of 5 stars AT&T ruined what could have been an amazing phone.   July 16, 2008
The Shine KE 970 that is made for the European marked blows this cu720 out of the water. AT&T left out so many features and the functionality is abysmal. They left out an entire protocol (FTP) to transfer files on bluetooth. It cant even connect to my computers as ALL my old phones and their bluetooth would. The speaker phone cuts in and out but its pretty loud..its just annoying. It looks sofisticated but it may as well be a fisher price phone for kids. The camera is flaky and leaves alot to be desired. Its very sad, such a beautiful phone, and I have to return it. If you dont care about anything else but making a call and texting and you get a good deal on it, great. The silver one looks better than the black one did to me.

3 out of 5 stars Hello..hello..ello..oo   July 13, 2008
Although the phone has several positive points, I wouldn't buy again. On the plus side the sound quality is very good when using the phone itself. It's very attractive looking, and it's loaded with great features all of which are easy enough to navigate through with the menu system. Now for the negatives: I've come to realize that it's not very compatible with my motorola bluetooth device. It connects fine and I can hear my party fine, but they consistently complain of an echo problem on their end. I have a friend who has the same bluetooth device and has no problem with it on his phone! A real dissapointment since the main reason I bought this phone was because it has voice recognition, thus giving me a true "hands-free" experience, or so I thought. The phone is not terribly easy to dial unless you have a small hand due to the design of the keypad. Lastly lets discuss the battery life. Yes, you have read it before in other reviews, so take it to heart. The battery life is quite disappointing. I can get maybe three days out of a charge if I seldom use the phone. Thats it. If I use it, it's considerably less. I can hardly wait to see how it will perform as the battery get old. Bottom line.... I feel I will be getting rid of this phone fairly soon.

2 out of 5 stars Battery life is short after initial four months!   July 13, 2008

After four months of light usage, the battery efficiency drops. A full charge lasts barely 24 hours. A friend in battery sales told me this problematic battery right after I got the phone. I thought it was an isolated incident but now it's happening to my phone. Stay away from this crap. Fashionable design is nice but that's not the main purpose of the phone.

3 out of 5 stars It's lacking some basic features   July 12, 2008

I had been dying to get the Shine for a while and finally got it a few days ago. I was so excited - until that night when I tried switching the pictures and music from my old phone to the Shine. My "old" phone is a Samsung A727 and has the feature of copying or moving multiple files at once, which is what I did to get it on my boyfriend's microSD card. But to get my files off his card and onto the Shine I had to scroll down to the object of choice, copy it, and then scroll down again to paste it in my phone. VERY tedious and a complete waste of time.

LG put many cool features into the Shine and made it look absolutely sexy, but to me they forgot about some basic features like multipy-copy or -move. It does have a multi-select feature but it can only be used to delete multiple items. Users also cannot customize the shortcuts that can be accessed by the joystick. For example, pushing right with the stick leads you to "IM". I *never* use IM on my phone, and thus I should be able to replace it with a shortcut I actually use. But the Shine doesn't have that option. It does have an "Option" page right off the main screen where you can customize any 12 (I think) "shortcuts" you want, to be fair, but I want something that I can access practically immediately.

The speaker phone also wasn't very good. It cut out often. There was also an annoying beep in the background every few minutes whenever I talked to someone. The associates at AT&T couldn't figure out why. Of course, that was probably just my phone. My screen seemed durable, but after 3 days I had a small scratch on the back plate. I am not hard on phones whatsoever, so those who are need to be especially careful. Another basic feature that I'm pretty sure was missing was that when you text and want to use a symbol you can only do one at a time. I know for certain that this is true when you push the star button to open the symbols page, but I can't remember if it's like that when you choose options and then symbols (or whatever the titles are called).

I ended up returning the phone today. Even though I loved the camera, some of the texting features (not the keys though, those took getting used to cuz they are so small), and the look of the phone, I refused to pay $[...] for a phone I wasn't completely, or near completely, happy with. Hope this helps.

4 out of 5 stars Good Phone Hard To Text   July 8, 2008
The phone is really neat, has lots of cool tools but if you are an avid texter it is a real struggle. The joystick is very sensitive and will send the text early if you are trying to space over so its kind of a pain.
