Wing is hampered by its slowness and operating system February 6, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Just bought it yesterday with the hope of replacing a Palm PDA and a cell phone. Sound quality on the phone was adequate. It was expensive.
I am extremely disappointed in the Windows Mobile 6 operating system. The software installed on this phone takes up half of its onboard memory, although a micro SD card can supplement that. Every time I closed, opened or switched between applications there was delay. After having used a Palm based PDA for several years, there is no way I can give up the efficiency and user friendliness of that operating system for this. In addition the software only syncs with Microsoft Outlook on my computer, which I find to be a weak PIM tool for personal use. It cannot keep track of all the data fields I've added in Palm software.
The web access is extremely slow and most web pages are unreadable. The touch screen does not work as smoothly as my Palm PDA and the screen is very small with tiny letters that I have to strain to read.
In summary, it is a weak PDA and only an adequate phone. For the price the compromise is too great.
Solid construction and really great phone December 30, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're a professional looking for a device that can setup multiple email accounts, instant messaging, touch screen, and a good comfortable keyboard then this product is it. The device is well constructed with a convenient slide out keypad for either messaging/email, etc.. The battery life is adequate when charged daily. The device also comes with windows mobile 6 and a lot of communication methods such as bluetooth, usb, etc..

I love the wing. i got the wing for christmas and it is the best on the wing you can get full connection from almost anywhere i also like it because compared to the blackberry if u go on aim you get your whole friend list. I love this phone so much
Very very nice value for money December 10, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I wanted a multipurpose phone ( not a home theater in a box phone). The phone has very fast GPRS internet access. We used this phone to get around the city on our recent visit to orlando. Download Google Maps or use Live Search for map service. You can also use it as a GPS receiver (pair with GPS like Magellan 3140) and you are all set.
I did not want the blackberry cos the keyboard make the phone look big and this problem was solved with this machine. The slide in keryboard is very nice. The touch keyboard is reponsive, not the best but good for all purposes. The phone performs very well when used as a phone. Absolutely no dropped calls, nice speaker phone ( i liked the RAZRs speaker phone better), good Address book. Camera/video camera is mediocre at best, and I have a 2GB micros SD card which resolved all my memory issues. Absolutely wonderful value for money device.
Extremely Happy with my Wing December 6, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I'll keep this as simple as I can.
Windows Mobile is for users who enjoy configuring and playing with the OS, business users, etc. If you want something super simple to text message and what not, grab a Sidekick.
For me, I use my Wing with an exchange server and directpush to sync my outlook, emails, etc. It works like a champ. Another cool feature of this phone is it's ability to act as a modem for your laptop. It takes about 30 seconds of configuration (programs >> accessories >> internet sharing, set "usb" and "wmodem link") and plug it in, voila, unlimited internet on my laptop, no crazy charges, providing you have the dataplan, which you will most likely anyways.
I have overclocked my phone to 260mhz to speed things up using "Battery Status" and have no real performance issues, I use Opera Mini web browser and it's cool as hell. Another REALLY amazing app I suggest is S2U2 - it's a lock screen that allows you to slide2unlock much like iphones, plus it gives you visual prompts of missed calls, messages, etc... REALLY cool.
I also suggest grabbing the latest version of Live Search too. Plus the phone comes with Live Messenger on it, and it's full featured, you can send pictures via IM, voice clips, and obviously messages with ease, and it works great.
The phone's keyboard slides out nicely and works great, the camera is pretty good as well.
At the end of the day, with a little configuration and customization, you can really go a long ways with this phone. It's been a champ for me for the last 6 months of daily use, battery life is great too.
I'm just not sure what to really complain about here.
