Motorola KRZR - An expensive piece of junk March 7, 2008 I do not understand why Verizon stood behind this phone and pushed it at the consumer. I had previously owned a LG for 3 years and was perfectly satisfied with it, but Verizon was going to stop supporting that phone. Last May, the Krzr was the hottest phone, according to Verizon. I should have returned it within the first few weeks when I was unhappy with the smudges that the phone had from basic handling. It looks so unprofessional. But I thought I would get a phone cover and that would not be a problem. Unfortunately, I kept the phone and it has continually got worse. The speaker is not very loud. I find it very hard to hear. The battery is not holding power, and the keypad and selection dial covers are lifting away from the phone. This phone is of very poor quality.
I will now look into the 1 year warranty and see what that covers. I'm not expecting much, but think I would just like to express my complete disatisfaction to Verizon and Motorola. I know that I will have to buy a phone outright, and this costs quite a bit of money when you are not buying with a plan renewal.
Buy an LG and save yourself a lot of irritation.
STOP...Do Not Buy this Phone! January 27, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Do Yourself a favor and NEVER BUY A MOTOROLA K1m! My K1m Has Been the Worst phone I've EVER Owned! The K1m Locks up for no reason without any warning at all. You can't even turn the phone off or on when it's locked up it's just frozen. The mp3 players software is NOT VISTA compatible and even on my XP machine it's a poor excuse for an mp3 player. I cant even enjoy all the phones feathers because the battery drains too fast! MOTO SUCO
Rushed, fumbled and crippled. January 22, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a mediocre phone, made nearly useless by Verizon.
PROS: - Great speakerphone - Very slim and pretty - The phone part of the KRZR, is decent.
CONS: - Menu is not intuitive and has a very long lag between different menu screens - Takes forever to start up the text message screen - Almost 15 seconds and 6 clicks to open up your MP3 player. - MP3 player unusable because it's very tricky to get MP3s on the phone and there's no headphone jack. The USB-to-2.5mm adapter that comes with the phone is pointless since all headphones are 3.5mm. - Battery dies in a year, so be ready to purchase at least one more if you're like me and have a 2-year contract - Verizon disables almost all bluetooth profiles...no free pictures, ringtones, games, videos or internet. - The mobile internet is obsolete. You pay 5 bucks a month to access tiny WAP portal loaded with Verizon ads.
I will never get another MOTO phone and I'm leaving Verizon right after my contract is up. Bring on the iPhone.
Stay Away. December 29, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Thank god I have a job in the mall, because in the seven months of owning this AWFUL phone, I've probably been to the store at least twice a month with problems. Problems I've had with this phone: 1) It rings when it wants to. Verizon tried to tell me this was because I make my own ring tones as opposed to using the ring tones that come with the phone, however even after changing to one of the verizon tones- the phone still rings occasionally. The most annoying part is, THE LOUD DEATH BEEPING after I miss a call; of course, that always works. 2) After you get around 200 text messages, the phone freezes. The screen goes white, you loose service then the phone sometimes restarts on it's own. 3) Like I said before, I've had this phone for seven months. I now need to buy another battery because it's not keeping it's charge. The people at verizon tried to tell me this was normal, that I should have to buy a new battery every seven months with the KRZR. Oh really verizon? That's a nice feature. 4) Setting picture presets and them not showing up. This really isn't serious, it's just annoying when you set a caller ID picture and it shows up like once every five times the person calls.
So in all seriousness, I really do not recommend this phone. I read negative reviews and disregarded them because I thought the phone was cute.
If anyone would like to donate me a phone, I'm a bitter college student locked in a contract until 1/8/09, who would greatly appreciate something that works :)
Verizon Ruins Another One November 12, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I would not recommend this phone if used with Verizon -- they lock out so many features with their software that it makes the phone almost useless.
I had numerous times where the phone just locked up and I couldn't shut it off without taking the battery out.
If you get a USB cable and expect to see the phone show up in Windows Explorer, forget it, it doesn't work. So how do you transfer all those pictures you took? You have to e-mail them to yourself! Or worse yet, you have to, one-by-one, send them to your PC via Bluetooth. And good luck finding any directions on how to do that.
So, how do you transfer music to the phone? Only one option I found... sync with Media Player. And that is a pain, because it doesn't connect half the time.
Even if you get Motorola Phone Tools (MFT) software, most features are still not accessible! For example, none of the media features work, so you still won't be able to transfer music and photos.
Verizon software and service is terrible. Even their manuals are worthless.
The Motorola K1M itself is only fair, so this phone should not even be considered by most.
