Love it, but be wary December 11, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had this phone for almost a month and I've loved every second of it. I'm a long time Nokia user and finally switched to Sony for the slider and alleged superior vocal quality. I love the w580i for its small size, functionality, and endless array of features. Unfortunately, my pampered little phone has already had a button break, something I find unacceptable before at least the year mark. Also, the sound is not much better than my former Nokia (even after the Nokia had broken in half...love the flip phone). But like I said, I still love this phone. It is snazzy and fresh and cooler than lime jello on a hot summer day.
Nice phone December 8, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this phone from At&T when I upgraded my plan. It is nice phone with good features, voice quality, signal reception is pretty good. I love its 2MP camera. Actually this phone's camera take better pictures than my Kodak easy share 4.1MP camera. Volume of Walkman is loud enough..overall ia good phone...the only problem is that it is very thin so I bought a clear case for its protection...

With regard to the customers and the phone's 'lock' features not working...the phone does not automatically lock by closing the slider. You must turn on lock features manually, and then, whether it goes to sleep closed or open, it will require that you press the unlock button, and then....press the ok button to unlock the rest.
I have had no problems with the phone coming unlocked on its own.
I am enjoying the MP3 player...it sounds absolutely fantastic, and the transferring of files is simple (if not a little slow, but that is tolerable) and I did not require any software support. Just pop in the M2 Memory card, plug the phone into the PC, drag and drop files into the music folder. I was able to place a ton of songs and a few audio-books in there as well. The sound is phenomenal for a phone.
The functionality of the phone is good. I'd say no better than other good phones, but good enough. The slider works well, the voice-dialing works well, and as with other phones, you need to either disable PTT button if you aren't using it, or put up with accidentally hitting it as you talk.
I've had phones ranging from the HK 8525 to the Blackberry 8300 Curve, and this phone, though not as "Smart" as those, offers the same great memory expansion, songs, pictures, etc etc in a smaller, sleeker package.
I have no complaints.
Better than the others December 3, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have had a sony Ericsson before as well and I loved the phone. I then switched to Verizon and their phones are just horrible (service is good). A month ago, I swtiched back to AT&T this year and got this phone. I have been very happy with this phone except for a few things.
PROS: - Slick desgin - I like the Slider (it is very smooth) - Very light and easy to carry. - If you get the Micro SD card you can add music on the phone and the quality is pretty good. - FM Radio
CONS: - If you forget to lock your phone and its in your pocket, you will find yourself browsing the internet without knowing. To stop this from happening, I just went to Menu - Settings - Connectivity - Internet Settings - Internet Profiles and switched to Software update instead of media net. So now it would not connect to the internet while in the pocket. - The music that you add in your phone can not be used as a ringtone unless you convert it to a wmi file. - Does not have a lot of themes to choose from.
Overall, I like this phone a lot better than the 2 previous LG phones that I have and the Sony Ericsson T610. Good upgrade!
So far, so good. December 1, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
So far I have been very happy with the W580i. The biggest issue I have had was with the battery cover on the phone. It was nearly impossible to get it to slide on tightly. After speaking with a Sony Ericsson rep, they explained that it is indeed difficult to get on, but for good reason. Apparently it needs to fit tightly in order to prevent it from opening up if the phone drops. However, I have already dropped the phone once and the battery cover flew off along with the battery. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. The reception is great...and it is one slick looking phone. The features aren't too shabby, either.
