Awesome phone but some features feel gimicky June 19, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this phone to replace my old LG VX9800 (AKA The V). Many people claimed this phone as the "Verizon Iphone" but this isn't a proper term for it. The Iphone by its very definition is a "smart phone" or a PDA with a phone built into it. The Voyager is a very advanced phone, but it lacks things that make a PDA well...a PDA. That being said, the phone doesn't have much of an address book. Just enough room for a single house number, a single work number, and 2 mobile numbers as well as 2 email addresses and a fax number. A PDA like a simple palm pilot for example would have a more fleshed out address book. This wasn't a big deal for me though, but it should be noted that this device, no matter how "smart" it seems, it isn't a smart phone. Now I practically got giddy when I saw that this device has a USB cable included in the box. Thats a big deal to me. Now, with the right software, you can sync your phones data with data that you create on your computer!
What's in the box: The phone (obviously), A quickstart guide, the full manual, a warning about radio waves for some reason, a wall charger, A USB CABLE!!!!!, and the software that makes it easy to sync up your music
Basic PROS: The phone is cool looking! SDHC compatable and will accept 8gb MicroSD cards, QWERTY keyboard on inside of phone with large keys (bigger than LG EnV). Camera takes a decent picture and video. Full HTML browser, INCLUDES A USB CABLE!
Basic CONS: Phone feels kinda fragile, Mobile TV is cool, but for the price they're charging for it monthly 29.99 for the basic package) and where its available make this kind of a gimmick for now (see Verizon's own mobile TV coverage map). The touch screen, while cool at first, also feels a bit gimmicky over time. You may find yourself using the hard keys more often than the touch screen.
Final Note: If you're in the market for a smart phone, this isn't the phone for you. Try a Palm or a Blackberry. If you want a phone packed with features for every occasion but isn't a smartphone, then this one IS for you.
The Magic Phone! June 15, 2008 This phone is great! It has everything you could want. I will just skip to the point on why i gave the voyager 4 stars. I am a student and i keep my phone in my pocket. And Mysteriously it calls somebody. I really can't figure out why it does that? My phone is off and my screen is locked. Is it just me or i have a faulty phone. Please comment if this happens to you.
Depends on how you use it. June 12, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I owned this this phone for about two months. At first I really liked it but as time went on it became extremely sluggish. I would use the touch screen and would wait about five seconds for it to respond. Some of the features are quite easy to access via the touch screen yet the unresponsiveness of the screen provided a bit of frustration. The reception was quite good in most places...I did experience some dropped calls but im not quite willing to attribute that to the phone. One thing that i did find annoying was that the internet was very sluggish on this phone I was constantly cancelling the page and trying to refresh. Oh and I know this might be petty but I am someone who texts every once ina while and trying to text on the touch screen proved very difficult(the "buttons" to press are n the touchscreen and if you have tick fingers its difficult to get the letters you want. I also felt like a fourteen yr old girl trying to text with the keypad...just felt odd(?) all in all i would not recommend this phone. If your looking for a practical useful phone give the LG VX-8350 a chance...
Great Birthday Gift May 18, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I received this phone for a birthday gift and I love it! This phone has so many features it is amazing.
I love that fact that I can use the internet with ease, check my e-mail, and watch videos on my phone. I was surprised at how clear the videos were. The sound on this phone is wonderful.
The Qwerty keyboard is lovely. It makes text messaging so much easier. The keys are a nice size and I never have to worry about typing the wrong key.
The touch screen is very nice, sometimes it is a little hard to use the scroll but other than that it works great.
Overall it is a great phone and it will make a nice birthday gift. However I must warn you, it is a bit addictive. There is so much to do on this phone it is hard to put it down!
DISREGARD ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS May 13, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Ive had the LG Voyager for 4 months now and i love this phone. Texting is my only obcession and this phone is perfect for it. Touch screen is very easy i dont understand why people complain of it. Anyway why would you text on the screen if you have a full keyboard. People complain of dialing phone numbers without looking as being impossible. ITS CALLED VOICE DIAL. This phone has given me no problems at all i absolutely love it.
