This IS the Blackberry bible. The shortcuts are excellent time savers. Dave shows many ways of maximizing the uses of your device. If you have a Blackberry you need this book.
Excellent Resource August 2, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
As a new user of the Blackberry, this book has helped me tremendously. I especially like the "time-savings" tips and shortcuts the author provided as well as hacks that have enabled me to get the most out of my Blackberry. Well-worth the money in my view.
Great source of ideas June 7, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wish I had gotten this book the day I got my 8700c. It would have saved me a lot of time, as I spent a lot of hours browsing forums and doing web searches to figure out how to do the kinds of things that are explained in this book.
Even getting the book as a power blackberry user, though, I thought it was a good source of ideas. Even if you've thoroughly mastered the device for email and phone use, you'd probably be surprised how many interesting mobile-enabled websites and third-party apps there are available (many of which are free). It's really only by trying all these features that you really see the power of these devices.
For people with programming experience, there's even a chapter that walks through the process of developing blackberry apps, from coding through packaging and deployment.
Become a power user! May 16, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
BlackBerry Hacks is a must-read for any BlackBerry user! Mabe points out some of the most useful device features and therefore allows you to take full advantage of it's powerful capabilities. There are also some great tips for those who support BlackBerry for the Enterprise!
Productivity tips May 5, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book can easily be read from cover to cover, but I found that I'm more familiar with some features of the BB and less with others. The ability to jump around and read just the material that I'm interesed in, makes this a great reference book. It's amazing how so many unknown tips, when used, can make the BB device a much more useful and productive tool. Dave Mabe did an excellent job of explaining each of the hack tips.
