4 out of 5 stars LOVE this phone   July 27, 2007

I think this is a GREAT phone for several reasons. All of the functions are easy to use and understand so that you can begin using it right away without having to read an instructions manual for an hour first. Plus it's nice and slim and easily fits into any pocket or purse. And I dropped it SO many times and never once did it break, nor did the battery fall off. It barely even got scratched. But there are a few disadvantages too. First, the pink color is a little bit purple-ish, and not considered to be as nice as the pink razrs of other companies. Also, you have to pay A LOT for new ringtones, music downloads, phone to computer connectors, games, etc. But if you don't want those services or else don't mind paying a lot, then this is a great phone for you.

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst phones ever!!!!   June 1, 2007

My wife got this phone on the Verizon network and it worked great for about 2 months. After that, she started having problems. The main problems were that when making a call, after hitting SEND, the phone would either freeze up or would shout off. Either way, the only way she could get the phone to work again was to take the battery out and put it back in.

We took the phone to Verizon, and they did several software updates, none of which fixed the problem. We had the phone replaced 4 times by Verizon (that is, they could never get the phone to work and would just give us a new one). Same problem with all of the phones. I have talked with several friends that have RAZR phones, and they all have had problems with them.

Battery life was also very poor. Verizon said that they were trying to maximize battery life with software updates (the same ones I mentioned before). None of these updates fixed the battery life either.

I am happy to say that our phone problems are now over. Verizon finally gave up on replacing our RAZR's and allowed my wife to do an early upgrade. She bought the Samsung A990 (which has a built in 3.2 megapixel digital camera). She has had this phone for 2 months and far outshines the RAZR.

Overall, I would highly avoid getting a RAZR. If you are wanting a slim phone and have Verizon, I recommend the LG VX8600.

4 out of 5 stars Great phone with a couple problems   April 7, 2007

I've had this phone for 4 months now and I think it's pretty good. I don't use the Vcast and haven't bought any music so I don't know about that.

Pros:

Great reception, I'm in Ohio and I called California with only 2 bars and could hear great.

Great picture quality, I love the zoom.

Durable, I've dropped it a couple times and it's still fine.

Easy to use menu, my mom has the same phone and know nothing about technology and has no problem using it.

Large keypad.

Loud ringtones, even on the low.

Long battery life, I can go almost a week without charging.

Though I love the phone, I have had a few problems.

Cons:

Sometimes certain buttons don't work. If I turn off the phone and turn it back on it works again. This might be because of it hanging off of my belt loop in 15 degree weather.

Voicemail. When I call to check it, it tells me to leave a message.

Wrong number calls. Almost immediately after I got the phone people called for whoever had my number before me. Including persistent creditors who didn't believe that I wasn't who they were looking for.

Quiet ringtones, I know I listed loud ones as a pro but the one my mom uses is really quiet even on the loudest setting.

I almost passed on this phone because of all of the bad reviews here but I love it and am glad I ignored them.

4 out of 5 stars Tickled pink!   March 2, 2007

I upgraded to the Motorola RAZR V3m back in July 2006. It was a vast improvement (true tones, camera, video, larger screen, voice activation, etc.) over my previous phone. And to top it off, it did not cost me a dime since I renewed my contract for two more years. From the very first day, I was tickled pink (no pun intended...okay I did intend it) about the features available with this phone. Do I use them all? No. I only really cared about getting a phone that allowed for true tones and had a camera. A few weeks into my new phone, the battery started losing power too quickly. I took it in to Customer Service and they replaced the battery. Problem solved. I am satisfied with the picture quality of the camera. If I want pictures with high resolution, I will whip out my digital camera instead. I only use the ringtones (vs. ringbacks) and hearing my favorite artists actually singing out of my phone each time I receive a call puts a smile on my face.

1 out of 5 stars Customer service disaster   February 17, 2007

DO NOT buy this phone unless you're willing to endure continuous calls from Verizon Wireless if you try to close your account.

Last week, shortly after telling Verizon's sales person I was switching to T-Mobile because their Customer Service is a disaster, I began getting three to five calls each day that hang up as soon as I answer. Doing a *69 revealed they were coming from 1-800-470-0768, Verizon Wireless' number. Calling a supervisor (Jasen) resulted in an apology and him putting me on their Do Not Call list, which he says won't take effect for 30 days. He also said this is a "known problem with Verizon's auto-dialer" for which Verizon has no solution. It's only noon and so far today I've gotten three calls from them, two hangups and another sales pitch to upgrade my phones and stay with Verizon Wireless.

I'd rather stick needles in my eyes.
