Really bad phone February 15, 2007 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
The phone looks really cute, but it freezes all the time and always has random malfuctions. Battery life is really short. Do not buy this phone!
Worst phone I have ever had. February 14, 2007 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I know everyone is buying the RAZR phones because they are 'cool' compared to your average cell phone. But I cannot stress enough that this phone is a bad buy.
My experience has been that:
- It loses its charge very quickly, that is my main complaint. Especially if you leave it on in an area that it doesn't get reception in (ex: the subway) it seems to drain itself. If I unplug it from the charger in the morning and it goes through normal (if not minimal) usuage, it will be dead by the end of the day.
- The keypad is a pain.
- The camera isn't very good.
- When setting the phone to 'alarm only' it still lets calls that have been set to their own ringtone through.
- Some of the settings are difficult to figure out.
So, that's what I have to say about the phone. I would have rather just kept my not-as-stylish phone than have this one. So what if it wasn't hip and with it? It was much more reliable. But, the hype got to me, I wish I wasn't such a sucker for the colour pink.
But what about the basics? February 14, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the worst phone of the more than half dozen that I've had and I'm returning it this weekend.
Pros: -It's cute and pink.
Cons:
-I have received several messages of "Call failed" when attempting to put through calls that I've never had a problem placing in the same vicinity with my old phone.
-The phone can't ring and vibrate simultaneously when a call is coming in. It's either one or the other and the ringer is not loud enough and the vibration is not pronounced enough, so I'm always missing calls when I'm driving.
-When I had the address book transferred from my old LG, my speed dials were reassigned in some crazy, random way. In fact for each contact, EACH number was given a different speed dial number, WTF? So now I'm supposed to remember 115 speed dials? Why on earth would anyone want that? Normally, on other phones, each contact has _one_ speed dial number set at the default telephone number chosen by the user with the other numbers accessible by scrolling.
-For the life of me, I can't figure out how to reassign or delete the assigned speed dials. Several other people including a techie I know couldn't figure it out either. I shouldn't have to waste time calling customer service for this nonsense. Navigating through this basic feature should be very clear and simple.
-I'm not ecstatic over the flat keys.
-The pictures you take come out blurry and have low resolution.
Overall, this phone is a lot of hype and no substance. I'd recommend that you bypass this one. My daughter has a chocolate and the pictures are beautiful. She doesen't have any of the same problems as I do with this one.
Oh and I almost forgot to add, the user guide and verizon website are tremendous wastes of time. They really don't address use of the phone so much as the audio/video access options.
Call me old-fashioned but I'd like a phone that primarily makes and receives calls portably and conveniently. bells and whistles are nice but they should be secondary concerns, not the MAIN features of a phone.
Worst Phone Ever..... February 2, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was spending so much time at Verizon with this ridiculous phone. It's bad enough that the battery only lasted one day, the worst part is that it would freeze up and not let any calls go out or come in! On another fun filled day at Verizon standing in line, the tech that helped us had 9 other razr phones piled up that they had taken in with problems just that day! Bought an LG, no problems.
not so much... January 31, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
In October my plan was up and I had to have the Razr. Great. Charged it for the full 8 hours or whatever. Took it out for the day and it didn't hold a charge for more than 6 hours. And that was just with normal use - a few short phone calls, didn't take and pictures, didn't watch any vcasts. I took it back. They gave me a new one. New one didn't charge for more thn 6 hours of use either. Verizon told me that that's "just the way phones are nowadays" and to basically deal with it. I dealt with it for a few more months but had increasing problems with it - it would ring when it wasn't get a call. The alarm would go off and wouldn't stop until I took the battery out. Constantly dropping calls. Took it back yet again to Verizon, I don't want this model anymore. It sucks. Well, apparently I can't do that and the only way out is to buy a new phone at full retail price. I went to T-mobile had my number ported over and I've finally got a phone that works. It cost me a $175 cancellation fee, but that was at least cheaper than buying a new phone at full retail. The Pros: It is a "pretty" phone, and it fits great in a back pocket. Awesome ringtones. Verizon's plans aren't too bad. You can't beat their coverage either.
