Not so great July 5, 2008 Nokia was my first phone and since then I have always wanted to return to Nokia because it was a great phone from all perspectives. I bought this one and quickly realized that Nokia is NO LONGER a user-friendly phone. I am not going into the details but setting options is SO complicated. Also, the front display glass broke the first time I dropped it - so it is fragile. Anyways, it is been sitting on my shelf after 1 month of use.
Phone fell apart - LITERALLY! June 6, 2008 The glue/binding that held the metal frame down around the screen started coming out and now the metal frame sticks up and will stab me in the cheek if I don't super glue it down every couple of weeks. Nokia/T-Mobile will not cover because it is cosmetic damage. Yes it is but I didn't do anything to cause it. Sound quailty is poor to terrible. Screen lighting is poor to terrible and features are not at all intuitive. Camera is simply awful. Pictures come out grainy no matter what. I'm in phone hell for 16 more months or until I break down and buy a new phone w/o contract discount.
Not a good phone for anyone May 8, 2008 I probably spend less than 2 hours a day on the phone, but the battery on this phone only lasted a day and a half. The speaker only worked 90% of the time, I could not make conference calls (not without incredibly loud and irritating noises over the speaker), it would not recognize bluetooth headsets as it should, the camera was constantly turning on in my pocket, and the physical design of the phone meant it was constantly pulling out whiskers from my cheek, no matter how close I shaved. I returned the phone to T-Mobile after a week. Save yourself the trouble and get a different phone. I ended up with a Motorola V195. It's a great basic phone. No camera, no mp3 player, but it has every phone-related option that a phone should have.
Nice features when it works April 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like this phone but I'm on 3rd one using warranty and still over a year on phone plan. All have the same problem, display (both) stop working and all I have is a blank screen. Now warranty is up and I have to buy them, should take another 5 or so till plan is up
Avoid! Avoid! AVOID!! April 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one phone, should you pick it up at a Tmobile store to purchase, that is in your best interest to PUT BACK DOWN. I bought the phone February 2nd, and it was all fine and good. The battery life was pretty terrible, but its to be expected. Last week, out of the blue,my phones sound died.I could not hear a thing, and so off to the Tmobile store we went. I was told it was "just a freak happening, a defective speaker that had been dying from the beginning." A replacment would be coming soon, and at only a shipping charge.Brand new,I was told since its still under manufacturers warranty-I should hope so,seeing as its been not even two months! I also bought a $25 memory card to transfer my ringtones. Great! Three days later, the nightmare began. The sound quality is AWFUL, sounds like the person is in a windstorm. And the volume, despite being on ten, sounds like a 4. On top of that,my ringtones, all four of them which I bought for $2.50 a pop, did not transfer over from the old phone despite being told they did-due to copyrights.Wait,I bought them, dont I get to do what I want with them? I would get them elsewhere but tmobile does not allow on the Nokia 6133 .mp3 ringtones from anyone but them,so its spend almost three dollars for ten secons of a song or be stuck with the synthesizer medley. Its back off to the tmobile store. How helpful this employee was(or not.) I asked pointblank "was this a refurbished phone sent to me?" and my question was dodged. He said that there was nothing wrong with the sound, and that when he put it on speaker phone it sounded fine.Speakerphone adn the earpiece are two different things! He also said that the ringtones didnt work because my memory card was bad..despite everything having been moved OFF the memory card and it being two days old.Tmobile reps are not very knowledgeable, especially when they tell you there is nothing to be done but to "live with it" and do not listen when their is a problem. Customer service is sending me a second phone, and we'll see how bad this one is.What new problem will IT have??
Bottom line: do not buy this phone.I am so dissapointed in Nokia, they are usually a better brand then this.Tmobile,on that note, has always been better then this too...
