W385 Review September 15, 2007 18 out of 63 found this review helpful
Let me start by asking when you normally charge your phone? If you said in your car, then you are one of the many crazy people like me who do this necessary function while driving. Ready for the next question? When do you use a headset with your phone? If you said in your car, then again you are one of the many crazy people like me who like to keep their hands on the wheel. Well, I hate to disappoint you, but you can't do both with this stylish piece of junk. Oh, and if you decide to skip using the headset and opt to charge it through its non-rotating, piece of crap USB plug that sticks out the side of the headset, then you are going to have to hold your hand and head at a funny angle due to the fact that you are fighting the cord. I also need to complain about the unnecessarily small text fonts that cause eye strain and that you can't hold it without accidentally pressing the side buttons, but I'll stop here. I advise to pass on this one. If a cell phone can not do the most basic of functions, then what is the point? I'd like to tell work to give me back my monochrome Nokia brick phone. This phone is best for people with Bluetooth capability in their car (which is useless if you have kids), who have very good eyes and opt for fashion statements over functionality.
Great No-Nonsense Cell Phone September 5, 2007 59 out of 60 found this review helpful
I'm a simple guy and for me the most important aspects of a cell phone are 1) size, 2) reception, and 3) battery life. I bought this as a replacement for a more advanced LG VX8100 phone because the VX8100 was falling short in all those areas. I LOVE the W385 because it's tiny, gets great reception, and has amazing battery life. It feels solid and substantial and the rubberized shell makes it feel durable. Plus it has a tougher plastic keypad that doesn't feel as cheap as the other razors on which this design was based.
The only drawback is that sometimes it can be difficult to zero in on particular keys on the keyboard; i occasionally press one key when I meant to press another. But for me that's a very small complaint for a phone that delivers in all the areas I really care about.
If you're looking for an attractive and functional workhorse cell phone with great talk-time and standby time, I would recommend this phone. If you're interested in all the bells and whistles (that drain battery life and result in bigger phones!) then this probably isn't the one for you.
Great phone for a good price! September 3, 2007 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
I got this as a replacement for an older LG. I particularly like the sleek design and the black/silver look. It is also one of the few phones I have found that let you get rid of the ugly always in your face red verizon box on every screen! Some might think the fact that there is no external LCD to show a photo is a downside, but I think it works just fine.
I primarily wanted to get a nice phone that had a camera and was bluetooth compatible, and this W385 works well at both tasks. The bluetooth is easy to connect and works better than any other phone I have tried.
