Great Phone so far..... May 15, 2008 I have only owned this phone for 5 days, so I guess this review may be alittle premature but I'm gonna do it anyway because this is by far the best phone I have owned. I have owned phones by Nokia, Motorolla and Sony, but this phone beats them all. I will agree that the joystick is sensitive and I have sent a few unfinished text messages but that was because I hadn't figured out you can press the "0" button to create a space instead of moving the joystick to the right. Other than that it is a great phone. I have ordered some custom fit protective plastic that sticks to the screen after reading reviews that the screen is easy to scratch. I was upgrading my phone at the AT&T store when I saw this phone and instantly fell in love with this phone and it has not let me down yet. I highly recommend this phone. Hope this review helps anyone this doubt about the LG Shine. Go for it. You won't be disappointed!!!
a nice phone, but some severe flaws April 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, the Shine is a very good phone, it gets pretty good reception even in a basement room with no windows. The mirror finish is kind of frustrating in the sunlight, but I suppose it comes in kind of handy if you want to see who's behind you. The metal finish is sleek and stylish, I would recommend keeping in a case and cutting an Iphone plastic screen cover to fit it as it scratches easily. It supports up to a 4GB sdhc stick, which wold make it almost function as an MP3 player except...
this phone has Bluetooth issues. Check out the AT&T forums. I'm on my second replacement CU720 through the AT&T exchange program, and third pair of bluetooth headsets (all of which worked fine on other phones.) I've wasted countless hours contacting support through AT&T and the headeset manufacturers. The bluetooth issue only seems to get worse with each equipment. You can get an adapter to use regular headphones, but the battery life is too short already and making power headphones will just make it shorter.
Nice phone, but mp3 functionality is pretty much nil. I whish i'd gotten the sony ericsson w580i
By the way, I've got a nice new pair of Cardo S2 bluetooth headphones for sale- they work well with every phone but this one.
LG Shine Review March 25, 2008 I bought the red LG Shine because the silver one was out of stock, but I recommend you get the silver one unless you're a girl because the red is more of a lipstick looking red and a little pinkish in the sunlight.
I've had the phone for about 2 months now and have had no problems. The only thing I don't like about the phone is the scratches on the front face of the phone and also a .mp3 has to be under 300kb in order for it to be used as a ringtone.
Battery Life HORRIBLE!!!! March 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have no idea why some people say the battery life is decent. I went through THREE brand new SHINE cu720's and every single one was the same. The battery lasted if I was lucky with minimal use one day TOPS! and that was hardly even using it. I hadn't played any music with it, or used the text feature or any video games etc etc. How could three brand new phones be bad? Is that possible? I doubt it. Outside of that I love the phone but such horrible battery life takes so much away from a real nice phone. What good is it? I have to put it on the charger every day without fail. I conditioned the battery properly by fully charging it as the battery instructions indicated I should do. Don't be fooled if the battery says its charged after a cpl of hours. Its a false reading. Thats what it says in the directions for the battery. The first few times you should charge it for 24 hours and run it down between charges. Also the first few times you do this do it with the power OFF. With that said..the battery still couldn't be any worse. I've been looking around for a second battery but the least expensive I can find a OEM Lithium Ion 900mAh battery for the Shine cu720 is about $35-$40. Bummer.
The other thing is the ring volume is insanely low and the ringtones are seriously lame.
The sound quality is real good while speaking and listening. The camera is pretty good as well and it does zoom but not on the top two resolution settings. The flash does work nicely for what it is.
The look of the phone is really nice and it feels solid and well built.
All the features I found easy to use and I'm pretty pathetic when it comes to puters and electronics so it better be easy out of the box.
I gave it low stars for the ring tone volume but mostly the horrendous battery life!!
I don't do much texting so I can't comment on that. I do have large fingers and using the keys for dialing is no problem for me nor is scrolling around with the scroll button.
If I could find a second battery for a lot less money I might be a bit happier about owning this phone.
Not perfect... March 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
1. It is a very pretty phone-- assuming you don't scratch it. 2. It is a little heavy, but it is small which is nice. 3. The speaker phone is terrible. 4. Reception has been great and I work in a room that has cement walls on all 6 sides (I average about 2-3 bars in my lab). 5. Camera is nice [2megapixel with a pseudo (led) flash] however, you have to hold impossibly still to get a decent picture. 6. The navigation button requires some getting used to. 7. My wife got the Sony Erickson slider and she seems to like that phone a lot better than mine. It is a little smaller, a lot lighter and has better 'software.' The only thing it doesn't have compared to this phone is an aluminum case and the LED flash. 8. If you're dead set on getting the LG shine because it is so pretty, you may want to hold out for the LG Glimmer (essentially the same phone however it has a touchscreen). 10. This seems like a lot of negatives but, it is miles better than any other phone I have tried. It consistently works and I rarely get dropped calls. It is a good, solid phone and I'd recommend it to anyone that is looking for a free upgrade that just wants to make calls and take the occasional picture.
