5 out of 5 stars This phone is the Best!   June 8, 2008

I absolutely love this phone. It replaced three Samsung Sync's--all of which kept dropping calls. I rarely have a dropped call with the LG Shine. It is a great looking phone. I love the slide feature. I am technically challenged, and am finding it relatively easy to figure out how to program the phone. I am able to hear very well over the phone. The main reason I want a phone is to talk. I can't comment on text messaging or other things, but if you want a phone which gives superior service for talking, this is a great phone.

1 out of 5 stars Bad Phone, and Bad Customer Service   June 6, 2008

Battery doesn't work funtionally. Have to recharge every 36 hours after 3 hours talking.
Screen cracked for no reason, and warranty doesn't cover. So what's warranty for?
Very disppointed. and would not buy any LG phone in the furture.

2 out of 5 stars Nice phone with problems   May 23, 2008
I love this phone. It feels solid and well built thanks to its metal case. It withstands the abuse my wife gives it (3 broken phones before this one). And I love the slider ergonomics. One hand operation is very easy, easy to read screen, and simple phone use.

But, this phone has problems. The keys are tiny and not very suitable for texting. Too easy to press another key and often it feels like you pressed the key but it doesn't respond.

Bluetooth doesn't work at all. Doesn't connect to 2 laptops, 2 headsets, any of my coworkers phones, my mp3 player and worst of all it can't even connect to my wifes phone (which is the exact same phone).

Random power outs. For no good reason the phone simply shuts off.

1 out of 5 stars Not useful if you actually want to talk on it.   May 23, 2008

Pros:
-it's very shiney
-the camera takes pretty nice pics, for a phone
-feels very sturdy
-slides nicely
-I like the joy stick

Cons:
-very difficult to hear the person you are talking to
-when I turned the volume up, it was very distorted and impossible to hold a conversation
-speaker cuts out, leaving out portions of the conversation
For example, I was talking to a friend. There was a pause in the conversation. Then I heard, "ra." And I asked what did you say? She said, "Did you get a new camera?" All I had heard was the last syllable of "camera." Kinda hard to talk to someone when you miss most of the words they are saying. I checked my signal-- 5 bars.
-battery only lasts 1 to 2 days
-not many bars if you aren't close to a tower
-constant buzz in the background when talking

I returned the first Shine that was sent to me. Received another. I had the exact same problem. I'm going back to Motorola.

summary: Looks really nice, but totally impractical if you would actually like to use it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Phone so far.....   May 15, 2008

I have only owned this phone for 5 days, so I guess this review may be alittle premature but I'm gonna do it anyway because this is by far the best phone I have owned. I have owned phones by Nokia, Motorolla and Sony, but this phone beats them all. I will agree that the joystick is sensitive and I have sent a few unfinished text messages but that was because I hadn't figured out you can press the "0" button to create a space instead of moving the joystick to the right. Other than that it is a great phone. I have ordered some custom fit protective plastic that sticks to the screen after reading reviews that the screen is easy to scratch. I was upgrading my phone at the AT&T store when I saw this phone and instantly fell in love with this phone and it has not let me down yet. I highly recommend this phone. Hope this review helps anyone this doubt about the LG Shine. Go for it. You won't be disappointed!!!
