1 out of 5 stars Not all its cracked up to be   July 16, 2008

After a few months of having this phone, I am sad to say i will send it to its grave. Its heart was in the right place, but it grow up to be a Edward Scissor hands. It takes 4 clicks just to get to the text message screen visiable. then try to navigate between folders, and open new messages. It just takes far to many clicks to navigate any menu. Since the phone has a wide body, I often have to uses two hands to avoid juggling it in one hand to click all the buttons i need too. the software installed is almost useless, you have to pay for additional programs to make the phone easy to use.

I do admit I have a special place in my heart for Sony Ericsson phones. I have tried other companies phone and none have the picture quality, the inherently friendly and simple useful application, great user interface, and beauty.

4 out of 5 stars Fun and easy to use   July 14, 2008
This is my first "smart phone", and I was pleased at how easy it was to navigate and use functions. Phone os seems stable, and adding music and photos very easy as well. Call quality is excellent, and the speaker phone is great. Phones links up with all blue tooth devices easily, and works well.
Battery life is ok, will last all day with blue tooth on and using data and playing music regularly through the day on the small batter, still haven't used the extended battery, probably will last even longer.
Can't compare to other devices, but I am please with the overall operation of this phone, and would recommend to others.

5 out of 5 stars Great Phone!!!   June 30, 2008
I love this phone! It has been great since the day I got it. I would recommend it to anyone. It has a few small annoyances, but every device does. It does most things it sets out to do very well.

4 out of 5 stars Nice phone   June 25, 2008

I'm a defector from the iPhone (yes, despite the approach of the 3g) and after some research finally settled on the q9h. Even though I think the form factor and user interface on the iphone are terrific, I mainly bought the device because of its internal memory. Now, with the devices like the q9h and others that can accomodate 2.0 high capacity cards the game has changed. You can equip yourself with lots of storage space for songs and other media without internal memory. As for the phone itself, I've been using it for about three days now. Here's what I like...

1. The signal strength is very, very good
2. The volume level and call clarity are amazing for both phone AND speakerphone. Iphone version 1.0 doesn't come close.
3. Windows mobile 6, which is a more productivity-oriented platform than what I had on the iphone.
4. Keyboard is amazing. I missed tactile texting and data entry.
5. Screen is good, but not great
6. Processor seems fast enough to take advantage of 3g and programs. Seldom do I deal with lag when navigating.
7. Seems durable.
8. Fairly light and thin
9. As mentioned, SD 2.0 compatible. This should allow the phone to accomodate up to 32 gigs of memory. As of now the MicroSD's are at 8 gigs but that will change soon.
10. I read [...] that the phone is actually wired for WIFI but will require some kind of software upgrade to activate it. Sounds dubious, but it'd be a big plus if it's the case, and would raise my review to a 4.5 or 5

Cons

1. Side-mounted micro USB (I would've preferred top or bottom)
2. No WIFI, but with 3g this isn't much of an issue (see #10 above)
3. I've heard phone is "counter-blocked", which means you could encounter issues if you buy an unlock code and unlock it. FYI.
4. A little wider than I'd like but the keyboard feels good for a reason

Overall I think this is a very solid phone. I would recommend it to others in a heartbeat. As far as the device's fundamentals go I can't find anything wrong with it thus far.

1 out of 5 stars I truly hated this phone   June 17, 2008

How do I hate it? let me count the ways:
1 unreliable syncing with my PC: I lost both phone #'s and appointments with clients. A huge no no in any business
2 the laborious process to even enter an appointment
3 Why can I not turn the device off without shutting down the phone? why must I wait the 30 seconds for the thing to auto off? An oh by the way...if you are looking at something you better nav away to something else and return at around 30 seconds or it will turn off mid operation...
4 no touch screen (hello?)
5 ATT issue: I didn't get the "extra software" because ATT sent me my phone 2 days after the motorola offer ended???? Really...
6 ATT issue: this is the only smarthone they will insure. Why? BTW, this is the only reason I tried this phone in the first place.
7 You can turn the phone's ringtones to silent, loud, normal, and vibrate. The vibrate feature includes sound. Hello, if I wanted the phone to vibrate, I probably didn't want to hear the ringtone....like when I'm in a meeting....
8 The email sync issue with Outlook. Maybe I just ask too much from a phone, but why do I have to wait to sync with my pc to send an email? (it was either that or get on the web to send from my other email client)
9 These weere all known issues! why do we not address known issues? or at least provide instructions for how to get the most out of your phone???

My husband and I tried for a month to make this phone work for me for two reasons:
1 It was a much better phone than my treo. The sound quality with the bluetooth was good. Since my husband travels, our phone conversations are important to us.
2 the battery life was better than my treo. An obvious plus in todays world.

Overall, Motorola made a great phone.....too bad they couldn't make it smart.
