A great phone with a lot of capabilities May 14, 2008 I've owned this phone for a month now, and I've found it to be a great device with a good number of capabilities.
Pros: -Web & data ready -2 megapixel camera -Music player which can be accessed from side buttons while phone is closed -Internal & external LCD screens supporting 262k colors -Fits easily in pants pocket -Bluetooth 2.0 -500Mhz processor
Cons: -Does not take very clear closeup photos -micro USB port -Some calls start off a bit warbly but clear up shortly (Coverage map has me in an area with strongest signal strength. Signal strength shows full bars on phone screen.) -Battery should be higher capacity to better accommodate all of the advanced phone features
All-in-all, I'm happy with my purchase of the Razr2 V9. It's powerful, has great displays, good functionality, and sounds very clear most of the time.

My Favorite Phone By Far (and I've tried dozens!) May 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't begin to list all of the phones and PDA phones I've either tried or owned since the early 1990's when I bought my first. All of them have something undesirable about them, but this is the best I've owned. Most I try out a week or so, then return it, but this one's a keeper! I love this phone so much, I actually (for the first time ever) purchased insurance for it.
Let me start by saying that call quality is of the utmost importance to me and other features are just nice bonuses.
This phone's call quality is so much better than the others, it makes you want to tell the person on the other end to spend a few bucks and buy a quality phone of their own! If everyone used a high-quality cell phone, there'd be much fewer incidences of people having to repeat themselves.
It's extremely well-built using solid metal construction. Much better than its predecessors. I like the solid feel of this phone-not flimsy and not feeling like it's about to fall apart at any time.
It has a huge external screen. Unlike the V3xx that I also currently own that has a display so dim, you can't read it, the V9 is bright and clear.
The music phone feature is great to have. Although I bought a protective case that doesn't allow the big exterior screen's touch feature to work, it works great without the case and the vibration when touched allows the user to know that it's sensing your touch. I have 350 songs stored on my mini SD card, with room left for additional storage, plus the phone's internal storage remains clear. I no longer need to carry my iPod shuffle and a separate phone.
The built-in modem came to my rescue when my high-speed internet service failed. It ran my computer, not a lightening speed, but at a rate at least 8-9 times faster than the dial-up modem would have reached. It's equally as fast accessing the 3G network via Media Net.
I cannot comment on battery life being poor generally because I routinely place all of my cell phones on the charger at night before retiring. This stems back from the days a phone couldn't hold a charge from sunrise to sunset without needing a charge, but there have been a couple of times I forgot and left it in my purse for 2 days, and it still had plenty of battery life left on that 3rd day.
If, as other reviewers have stated, the battery life is less than on other models, for me, having the big, bright responsive outer screen outweighs a few hours of battery life as a priority to me. It's not like I'll be on a 2 week camping trip with no viable means of recharging. Again, out of habit from the old brick phone days, I have always kept a spare battery fully-charged and so far, have never needed it.
I suspect that some of the reviewers who have negative things to say about this phone may have received a defective handset and would possibly be pleased if they'd exchange it for a properly working model.
By the way, it also features a 2mp camera with zoom and video capture capability! The only thing missing is a flash or light to use in the dark, but I won't downrate it for that alone.
After years of searching and dozens of handsets later, I've finally found my phone, and a whole lot more!
Best Cell Phone I have ever Owned April 27, 2008 I absolutely love this cell phone. Its got just about every feature you could ever dream of. For the first time I am able to use a cell phone for just a phone. Its got really great reception (almost always clear) and am able to get a signal just about any where. There were lots of places where I couldnt recieve a signal before with my Motorola v360 and I thought It was my carrier but once I got this phone I havent any problems. Going from no bars to about 5 or 6 bars. The mp3 player is great with touch screen and the fact that you dont have to open the flip to use the mp3 player. Sound quality is also pretty good considering its a cell phone mp3 player. I do wish the mp3 player was able to play protected music especially from iTunes. Also the cameera feature is great since you dont have to open the flip to use it. Dont get me wrong I still prefer my stand alone mp3 player and digital camera but its nice to have these features in a cell phone. The HSDPA is pretty fast and much faster than EDGE which I used to use before this. Also has other great features like a nice video player and handy voice recorder. It also has the full version of the opera web browser which no other mobile device has. The only other better mobile browser is the safari one on the iPhone and iPod touch.Theres only a few negative points about this phone. The battery life is pretty bad but considering its a 3G phone and has all these high end media features it would be expected. Also something I missed from my motorola v360 is that when you use the speakerphone I was able to close the flip and still use it. While with this phone as soon as you close the flip it terminates the call. Another downside of this phone is that it only comes with 8 ring sounds for your ringer. Do wish it came with more regular ring sounds.
BEWARE OF BUYING AT AMAZON!!! April 23, 2008 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am not ranting about the phone but this website and how they scam buyers. If I can only give a NO STAR, I would. I wanted to get the Motorola V9 and thought I found the best deal at this website for $100 w/ a 2 yr contract extension on my AT&T plan w/ free shipping. The phone with its features were displayed right in front of me. So, excited and happy with my find, I finally decided to upgrade my phone and locked myself in a 2 yr contract (w/c I've never done in my 5 yr service w/ AT&T). I know my phones because I worked as a sales rep at Cingular for 3 1/2 yrs. So there was no way in the world that I would mistaken the V9 (w/c is a flip touch screen phone) with a Z9 (w/c is a slider phone). When I got my package, I was so mad to see a Z9 phone in the box! Why would I pay $100 for a Z9 and get myself into a 2 yr contract when I can easily get that phone for $200 in an AT&t store near my work? I get 40% handset discounts through my company. I trusted Amazon to deliver to me what was on the starting page of their product offer just like what you see here. The V9 was even $50 after a $50 rebate on a new 2 yr activation. I even checked the rebate for it! Now, when I check, they don't even have any offers for the V9 through At&T. I have never had this horrible experience with Amazon. I've been buying my stuff from this site and this is what I get? I will never again buy anything from this website. Now, I have to pay from my own pocket for the shipment of the wrong phone that was sent to me and I have to waste time to call Amazon to complain and AT&T to undo my contract. I should have listened to the big number of people who had nightmares about their purchase at AMAZON. What a shame!
