Love this phone! February 8, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought the 4GB memory card as suggested by other reviewers and it works great! A big part of why I purchased this phone was because I was tired of carrying a phone and an iPod when I went running. Over the last 10 years I've only owned Motorola or Nokia phones, so I was a little worried about the quality and if it would last as long. Only time will tell, but I'm really not concerned about it now that I have the phone. I would recommend getting the little adapter to plug in your own headphones if you have a pair that you really like. They're only a few bucks and have the antenna to get FM radio. Most vendors won't say it has the antenna because not all compatible phones have the radio feature... but it does work. The headphones that come with the phone are good, but the wires are an odd length to use with your own set (and odd for running).
Things I don't like: At first I really didn't like the menu screen because you can't personalize it by deleting or moving the icons around. I got over that (sorta). Once I setup my phone the way I wanted it, I use the "shortcut" buttons on the front of the phone for most things anyway. Using the menu isn't too bad if you only have to go there once in a while.
I don't like how the bluetooth headset connects with the phone. If you turn on your headset during a call, it doesn't automatically transfer your call to the headset. Nor does it prompt you to transfer, so you have to hit a few buttons to get it there. It DOES ask if you want to transfer your call to the phone every time you start a call with the headset on. Should be the other way around if you ask me. I would have liked it to be more intuitive as my other phones were, but I guess you get used to it with time. It's still really annoying!
The battery life is not very impressive either. I thought about getting a spare battery, but I'm afraid I'm going to break the battery cover each time I take it off or put it on. Once that sucker is on, it's definitely secure!
I'm giving this phone 5 stars because I really love everything else. I usually just want to know what people DIDN'T like about a product when reading a review, so there you go. Pictures are beautiful, music player is awesome, love the address book features, phone looks great... I could go on and on. I would definitely recommend it!!
Cingular Customer services February 8, 2008 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
cingular charges exorbitant prices. i have phone from cingular for a quite while now. but for some reason radio stopped working. i was asked to send the phone back; but was given a new phone. they returned the old phone saying it was water damage and told me "i can't return the new phone but have to pay for it?" i have 2 phones now? I called the customer reps a bundle of times. this is wat they had to say "PAY". this is not the first time anyone had such compliant from cingular regarding charges. but reading the forums online i thought it was wise to help thy neighbors. "CINGULAR USERS BE AWARE OF SERVICES and benefits that they say will provide for phone.
Buy it! February 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
At first, I had huge reservations about buying this phone. Especially after plenty of negative reviews about the phones spotty quality etc. I've only had it for a couple of days but all I can say is I am incredibly impressed. The features packed in are incredible. I haven't had a chance to try the pedometer or the MP3 player (seeing that my 4GB microSD hasn't arrived yet) but everything else has been great. I get a kick out of just playing the songs that came with the phone (AT&T ringtones and such). To be honest, I think I might just use this to replace my iPods (I have the tiny shuffle, 30GB black, and the nano). Also the "shake" to change song feature works quite well.
Battery life has been great. It's been over 2 days with me fiddling around with the phone and it's still at more than 50% battery. I imagine if I use it regularly just for calls it would last me 4 or 5 days (I talk roughly 300-400 minutes/month + 100 or so texts). If I double it as my MP3 player it should last 3-4 days per charge.
Reception has so far been good. I now get service in my apartment building, which is an improvement already over my old phone (an LG of some kind). Sound on my end is OK. Not exactly crisp but good enough.
Fit and finish is also quite good. Sliding mechanism is very smooth and User interface is very intuitive. The phone looks much better in person than it does in the pictures. In the pictures, it looks a little reflective/glossy but it is in fact really like a matte finish. There are so many lights on this phone it looks like a mini las vegas when the phone is open. The only complaint I have would be about the keys. They look like they could potentially crack (as has already been said in many other reviews). Note, I chose this phone despite reading many reviews of it breaking. Buttons are indeed a little small and takes a little getting used to.
All in all, I am very satisfied and would get this over the LG Shine/iPhone again if I were to repeat my buying process. Best of all, the phone is so cheap!
small, a great speakerphone, good battery life February 7, 2008 I was giving the phone a one star, because of a problem described below. But the replacement works great, so I deleted my old review (The text attached below.) It is the best phone I have had so far. I am amazed by the quality of the phone's speaker; the sound is better than my tabletop stereo.
=== My original one-star review The phone locks whenever I turn on the camera. Maybe I am just unlucky, but I have to give it a 1-star. Hope the replacement will be better.
great phone, but physically not so great February 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ill be honest. This is one of the best phones I have owned. Ill be straight and to the point: Great phone, great menu and features. The only gripe i have is that it physically feels very cheap. Like all the other customers out there that bought this phone, my keypad started to crack too. Called AT&T today and they are sending me a new (referbished) phone, and well see if that ones any better. Overall, awesome phone but look out for cheap physical features.
