Buyer Beware August 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Users beware! My fiance' and I just switched providers in late June, so getting this phone was suppose to be an "upgrade". While still going through the learning curve of navigating multitude of menus just to input contacts, etc., the screen goes out. It seems that it takes very little pressure to crack the screen under the cover. Since the design of the phone leaves the screen exposed at all times, the likelihood that it will receive some sort of external pressure is great. My experience was one day it was working, the next it wasn't. It apparently cannot withstand those "extreme" times of normal day to day use. ATT will not back up the product, which is probably why they are giving the phones away. After having it for only 31 days, they refuse to replace it. But they would be more than glad to sell me another. Samsung sucks.
We don't need the bells and whistles that this phone offers, just a phone that is designed well. The old Nokias we had never gave us a problem and were durable. We regret having gotten these phones.
Amazingly durable July 17, 2008 This phone is great! It is a very nice size and extremely durable! My phone was in a bag with a spilled water bottle and got completely dreched with water. It didn;t work that night and the day after, the middle button and keys 7, 8, and 9 did not work. The day after, I woke up and the phone worked perfectly. I have also dropped my phone numerous times and everytime, the orange paint has chipped very slightly but it still works great!
You don't get everything February 16, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have this phone for a week now and have realized that this phone is not a complete package. There are goods and there are bads too. First the good part - The phone is really cute (form factor), it is light and thin. Slider gives a good feeling. The battery is great and my wife does not have to charge it every day (unlike me with my funky iPhone). This thing is 3G and speeds are fast. Again faster than my iPhone. There are a lot of things you can do like customize buttons. The overall user interface of samsung phones is pretty good. The phone is not sluggish, unlike some nokia phones. The signal reception is good and voice quality is good too. The speaker is real loud and you enjoy the music if you are not using your headphones. But wait, here starts the bad part. The phone does not come with any headphones (for calling purpose also). Samsung expects you to have a bluetooth headset to go wireless/wired. There is not even a normal headphone jack so that you can use your old ipod or other mp3 player headphones. You probably need to rely on some special types that can fit into its usb socket. The phone does not come with a PC/Mac s/w to sync contacts/calendar or anything. Mac does give a bluetooth interface to copy files but no sync with stupid iSync. So if you plan to sync 100s of your contacts with this phone, you need to buy a s/w. I cannot imagine these guys selling phones without these basic accessories. Somebody should move to the court. 1.3 megapixel Camera is weak, as expected, both in still and camcorder mode. The key pad is not friendly for even big fingers. ATT ships the phone with MediaNet enabled. That means you can start using internet (unknowingly) and incur a lot of money at a rate of 1 cent/kb downloaded. I don't have any way to install any s/w like Opera mini. Although this phone is 3G, the browsing experience on my iPhone is super fast than this tiny browser (well I can't complain much about this feature. iPhone is out of this world) Overall I don't feel fulfilled by the phone. I need complete package for any product, out of the box.
Multi-featured 3G Phone! December 12, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just opened an additional account (for business use) with AT&T Wireless and one of 2 phones I got is the Lime & Black Samsung A737 model/unit. It's a slider-type of phone that is fully-loaded with features that would easily tickle today's kiddies! It has music & video player, 1.3 MP camera, video and voice recorder, SMS & MMS, net browser, packs selectable dual or quad-band options (for browsing/downloading needs) and ring-tone samples that are virtually hip and diverse from my old Moto Razr V3. The A737 is much, much better than what older models could offer. There's a snag though. Figuring out how to use all the features takes time and focus. I haven't found the DELETE/BACKSPACE key yet (when composing text messages or updating my personal greetings). Compared to previous phones that I owned, I found this particular brand somewhat frustrating whenever I get back to it and try tweaking around the many controls it had up its sleeves! Great phone with medium to high learning curve, or else it's just me. I give 4 stars (for now) because it's truly intimidating once you begin checking out what it's got hidden inside! It would be best to find someone who's good at solving wireless puzzles first before applying whatever you thought about this product after. The Lime & Black model looks more dynamic than the other 2 available colors (Black and Orange & Black). The user manual/booklet, comprehensively long as it is is no help when looking for the right points you wished to know. You'll also need a clear magnifying glass to read through the information listed/printed inside. Overall, it's nice and quaint. I just found it harder than most to learn. Using it is almost at par with other brands but watch out for its tiny keypad. You might miss the right one when trying to dial someone's number (unless you're a girl with long fingernails, then you won't have any trouble there).
