 If you want a full keyboard in a small phone.....this is it April 9, 2008

I wanted a phone with a 104 key keyboard, 7.1 surround sound, HD video, GPS navigation, 20" LCD display and a battery that would charge just by being near me....and still fit in my pocket. Nobody makes one, so I got a U740 instead.
Simple fact is this is a fairly compact phone for what it does. If the keys are too small for you, get a bigger phone.
For me, the keyboard is a bit on the small side, but usable. The battery lasts me all day (couple of days if I lay off the mp3 player), camera is functional if not as good as some others (wifes RAZR is definately better), mp3 player - video - internet - all features that may be better on various other phones, but to my knowledge, not all on a phone this size and still with a qwerty keyboard.
If you want a keyboard on an average size flip phone, look at a 740. If you can handle a bigger phone then get a bigger phone.
Final note - I was worried about the dual flip open setup on this phone. After 1 year of service and several hard falls to the concreate, it still works.

this is a horrible phone, never get it! the service is very poor, i had an Verizon lg env right next to my phone once and i fading in and out of service and the env had three bars. also, i've had to get a new one due to keyboard problems (not registering the keys when texting) and lighting of the keyboard has issues too. also the battery quality is very very poor, it lasts less than a day. even when next texting or calling when texting a lot, battery goes dead in about 15 hours. ALSO the camera is not that great. overall phone, never get samsung, ALWAYS GET LG! GET THE ENV! Also, for this review i was forced to put how many stars, so i was forced to pick 1, if it was my choice i would have picked 0 or a negative number.

1. Yes, this phone is WAY COOL, and everyone tells me how "cool" my phone is.
2. HOWEVER, the keyboard is much too small. They should've put some kind of rubber coating over the keys. My fingernails slide off of the key, so often I accidentally type the letter next to the one intended.
3. Even when I go to dial a phone number, I have to carefully look at what I'm doing or else I will hit a wrong number. (Keys are too small)
4. I, personally, have been having a lot of problems with sending my e-mails through the mobile web. I would type a short or a long e-mail (it doesn't matter the length) and then when I would go to send the e-mail, I would just lose the e-mail. And it doesn't save either. I took my phone to Verizon to get this issue taken care of, but they said that it is not the phone. It is an issue that "I" have to take up with Yahoo. Of course, they have no obligation to contact Yahoo to help me resolve the problem, although I think that they should have. After all, they DO promote Yahoo as one of the companies that you can e-mail from with mobile web. So, here I am on my own, trying to figure out what to do. I'm bringing this phone back and I'm just going to get a Blackberry. The phone is probably good enough if you just want to text.

I bought this phone a month ago and has worked great. The qwerty keyboard is great for massive texting like i do. I love the dual flip...nice fun feature. Speakerphone is nice and loud and clear. The screen on the front is very small but that is only a small setback. The only thing that I have to complain about this phone is its compatibility with bluetooth headsets. I tried two plantronics headsets, two motorola headsets, the jawbone, a samsung headset and none of them worked very well. The minute you turn your head, you get so much static in your ear you cant even use it. I finally tried the t50 headset found on amazon and it was the only one that worked well enough to use. It still has a little static if any body part comes between the phone and headset, but other than that it works great. And to top off my review, Verizon is the worst cell phone company I have ever tried. They have good signal wherever I go but their customer service and rules/regulations regarding replacing defective phones is horrible!!! I had another phone from them that was defective and I had to pay full price for my Samsung Alias because they are morons. I would not recommend Verizon to anyone, but if you must, then this phone is great.

I received the phone the evening of March 15, 2008, and had decided by the morning of the 16th to return it. Here are just some of the reasons, with the first two being obvious manufacturing defects.
== The volume control rocker on the outside worked as advertised exactly twice, then failed forever.
== In some circumstances the letter "v" doesn't work. All the other characters are OK, just "v."
== The sound quality of the speakerphone is just awful. In fact, it's a deal-killer for me. Also, even the lowest volume setting is too loud for a household where everyone else is asleep.
== The non-speakerphone sound quality is better, of course, but still a lot worse than what I'd gotten used to for the last two years using an ancient Samsung t309.
== The two-way hinge is loose, i.e., there's play in it, which I assume would only get worse with repeated use.
== A few operations can be performed in one orientation -- portrait or landscape -- but not the other. You get halfway through some procedure only to be told you have to start over because you rashly opened the phone the wrong way.
== I nearly dropped it several times trying to open it with two hands (although I imagine that with a little practice you'd get better). However, opening it correctly with only one hand is a feat of true prestidigitation.
== The camera trigger button is inside, which means you have to open the phone to take a picture. Normally this isn't a problem, but if you want to take photos clandestinely or on a moment's notice, it's better if the shutter release is on the outside.
== There is no headphone jack. The only way to listen to music through wired headphones is to attach a 4-inch long dongle.
On the plus side, I guess, I did figure out a method for creating a ringtone by recording a picture message (mine said, in my voice, "Hey, dummy, answer the phone!") and then mailing it back to the phone. This despite Verizon's assurance in one of their FAQs that you can't do that.
Summary: The two outright defects I listed first make me wonder what else is pre-broken for me, so this exact unit would have gone back to the store no matter what. But with all the design problems, particularly the atrocious speakerphone sound quality, no example of this model would satisfy me.
