5 out of 5 stars Readability was Key   September 14, 2007

I needed a cell that I could SEE without my reading glasses and this one fits the bill perfectly. Excellent main display, very good external display. I don't care about the mp3 player (have iPod), so can't comment on that. Camera is very good. Voice commands are excellent. The form factor is perfect; not too big or too small and the weight feels just right. I have large hands and fingers and I find it easy to dial and use the buttons.

Verizon service and coverage have been excellent also, compared to my old AT&T service and phone.

5 out of 5 stars A Phenomenal Phone   September 9, 2007

Okay, I have read a lot of different reviews on this phone now. I think that the major complaints are in the area of "ease of use."

I have had the phone for the last three months, and have had no problems at all with it. It is still not scratched (granted, I did buy the invisibleSHIELD for it), and its functionality is great. I keep the phone in my pocket, and not once have I accidentally disconnected a call. If you find that you have problems with the outer softkeys, you can change them.

Also, for those that have said that the external screen is hard to read in daylight...cover the glare with your hand! It doesn't need to be super bright as long as you can read it.

Finally, I read a review that said you cannot change from Ring/Vibrate to Vibrate/Vibrate with the keys on the outside of the phone. This is just not true. You can easily use the volume keys on the left side of the phone to adjust volume, set it to vibrate, or even set it to completely silent.

This phone is gorgeous, and I really really hope that it will last forever. I can think of very few things that I would change about it, and none that come to mind right away. It might be expensive, but it is well worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Phone!   September 6, 2007

I love these people who think they are a phone conesuer. Look, there is never going to be a perfect phone so deal with the one you have and evidently you went to the store and picked it out. Well in my opinion from when I had other phone companies Verizon Wireless is the best carrier I have ever had. Also the LG VX8700 is the best phone I have ever owned. So get over yourself and actually enjoy what you have instead of griping about it. The phone takes great Pictures/Video (The display is fine if you know how to set it right) for brightness etc. The sound is crystal clear and nice loud ring tones since i work in a shop with loud machinery. So I would definately purchase this phone if you are looking for an all around great phone! And if you have a problem with pulling a phone out of your pocket and missing a call simply get a phone case to clip to your belt. Simple as that.

4 out of 5 stars It looks good and works good but it's NOT great   September 1, 2007

Everyone elses' review has it spot on. A couple of other comments though -
1. TERRIBLE outer shell - they say it's "brushed metal" - but it gets horribly scratched up even when you do not drop it/ even when you handle it like a new born baby. It's really frustrating, and it looks bad.
Additionally, the bottom edge is plastic (not metal) - which looks stupid from up-close and will probably get chipped - even worse than the metal casing will get scratched.
2. No way to lock the phone without going through the menu (about 4 commands) - UNBLOODY-BELIEVABLE. what a major oversight! I mean you should be able to enable the phone lock/security with a shortcut key.
3. Similar to above there is no way to change the ringer to/from vibrate or to/from any other modes from the eternal buttons WHILE THE PHONE IS CLOSED. If anyone has owned a motorola you know that you can change from ring/ring-vibrate/vibrate from the outside IN THE CLOSED POSITION. In this phone you cannot. You have to open the phone - go through the menu - or you can go to vibrate by holding down the * key. ANNOYING. Sure the external volume buttons work when the phone is open! But what about when the phone is closed - they should do their job and let you switch to vibrate/silent... which you cannot.

I love the look of this phone, and it has all the features I need. The bluetooth is cool. I get a lot of compliments on how cool my phone is. The speaker sounds great. The 2mp camera is great too. I use it more than my digi cam. I have no regrets about choosing this phone.
