| Customer Reviews:
Great phone, frustrating company! April 16, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this phone after reviewing most all plans available. Had 39.99 monthly plan and was paying nearly $50 after lovely NY taxes. I just wanted some of the basic for what I use my phone for and choose this one (which this and the 375 motorola is the best that NET 10 has available). You can't beat Net 10's pricing out there! And the fact that they use different companies cell towers means less dropped calls and better coverage for you. Refill cards are literally everywhere to buy and only 10 cents a minute all the time. So I bought the phone online and had it in three days! Phone is plastic and not as well put together (rugged) as a regular phone but fine for me. I keep it in a leather case. It looks nice and not like a cheapo pre paid phone. Worked GREAT until I tried to have my other cell number ported (transferred) over to NET 10. Said that they could, right. WHAT A MESS! First web site is slow but do able. Second customer service. Sometimes they can be VERY hard to understand. They are not from around here (why can't US companies keep US workers?) therefore they have accents. On the PLUS side they are nice and really want to help you. So you must have patience on the phone. And you will be on it for awhile. DON'T and I repeat DON'T use your cell phone to call them! Expect to be on the phone a minimum of an hr. and have your serial number available when you call. Some of the people you reach don't have a clue and they are reading a computer screen. If that is the case call back. You will eventually reach someone better. Back to my problem: porting a number. Just because they say they can doesn't mean they can. After FOUR WEEKS I have finally given up. Every phone call to them I got a different story which always ended with "in 48 hrs. turn your phone off then back on". Every call I would try to tell them "I can make calls and text but I just cannot receive calls but can receive text". Signal strength is great with this phone, it's a nice basic phone, the phone wasn't the problem. Their porting was. I finally came to a conclusion that they don't know how to fix this problem after about 10 hours in total of phone calls to them (remember not to use your cell phone to call them). E-mailing with problems you will have to wait about 3 days for a response back. So now I am waiting for a new sims card. If I had known that porting would be so difficult for them to do I would have stuck with the number on the original card! It was fairly easy to remember. I did request some minutes back for the down time on my phone and they gave me 40 minutes of my lost time back. So they do have their ups and down. Leason learned here don't expect easy porting so if it does work for you a nice suprise. So far I LOVE the phone that I have. Hopefully will work completely and as great as it first did with the new card (number) as it did before the issue. Haven't had dropped calls. Great signal strength 99% of the time. Even with low signal worked fine. Went from NY to Ohio without a glitch. I would recommend the phone for anyone but say be hesitant with porting an old number unless you don't mind not having one for awhile. Would have given a five star rating but the company needs work.
