5 out of 5 stars Perfect for those deep in cow country!   June 19, 2007

This modem with a VERIZON WIRELESS plan is excellent for those in remote and very rural areas. I prefer the wireless-USB modem to a wireless card since I may switch PCs from timne to time or get a new laptop.

5 out of 5 stars Works great with Vista and XP   April 11, 2007

I recently traded in my old PC card modem for this one. It's faster than my previous PC 5220 and works on my Vista laptop. It's also nice to have the option of hooking the modem up to other desktop machines, or Macs without PC card slots.

I bought the product mainly because we only have dial-up internet where I live. I figured the USB compatibility would be good so I could easily swap the device between computers. I attempted to install the device on a desktop with XP pro and a laptop also with XP pro, both were Dell computers and not out of date. At the end of the installation process on both computers the msg ERROR CODE SMWAN 2013 came up repeatedly, Basically there is a serious compatiblity issue with the software VZacess that verizon sells standard with the product. I called tech support, they recommended downloading a new version of VZacess, long story short the same thing occurred with the new version. I cant comment on the speed of the product due to the fact that the product is not useable out of the box, but I have to assume that this will happen to anyone with windows XP, thats why I give it 1 star, Ive heard good things about the similar product that sprint sells and plan to look into that, I would suggest the same for anyone looking to purchase this product.
