1 out of 5 stars Display kept breaking...   February 5, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

I am on my third phone from them because each time it breaks, AT&T will only send me the same type of phone. They say that if it breaks one more time, they will send me a different type. The reason why I had to send my phones back was because the screens would stop displaying anything after a while. I know two friends that had the same phone and both encountered the same problems. The phone itself is easy to use and nice, but the display breaking so often is not very much fun...

4 out of 5 stars Good Phone   January 29, 2008
I was amazed to see so many negative reviews, as well. I've used my phone for about a year and a half and the only problem I have is, occasionally, the phone will tell me to insert a sim card and I will have to turn the phone off and back on again to reset it. There is also the issue of the phone taking pictures inside my purse, but it doesn't happen very often and it's not a lot of trouble to delete the pictures. It will only take pictures if you have the MENU on the screen. Leave it on the main screen and it won't take pictures.

I LOVE the long battery life. I use my phone about 300 minutes a month and I only have to charge the phone maybe, twice a week. I leave it on the charger overnight so it gets a good, solid charge and it holds up well.

I've dropped it a few times and it still works fine. Because of the issue with the message telling me I needed to insert a sim card, I was considering extending my phone plan and getting a new phone, but when I saw the reviews on the other phones, I realized how much better this phone is. This phone is SMALLER than most, LIGHTER than most, and has a longer battery/stand-by life than most. I'm keeping my phone.

1 out of 5 stars Expect it to Break!   January 9, 2008
I had this for a year and it broke 20 days after the warranty was up! The screen moved vertically like those old tv sets, rendering it useless. This was my second Sony Ericsson phone, and both broke within a year. Should have learned the first time. My sister has also had recurrent problems with Sony's. Neither of us will buy an Ericsson again no matter how nifty it features are! Think of them as super duper "as seen on tv" gadgets that looks and works great...until it breaks. Cheaply made!

5 out of 5 stars Have to stick up for this phone..   January 2, 2008
I was very shocked to see so many negative reviews on this phone. Like another reviewer said, maybe some of the folks should do a little more research before picking up a phone. But, I was also surprised to hear about display problems and shut off problems with the phone. I've had my phone for 18 months. I also bought one for my son and he's had his almost a year.

I have to say that this is one of the best phones I've owned! I had my phone in a carrying case that fell off my waist in a parking lot and then got run over! Not only was the phone not broken, but except for a number of new scratches, it wasn't affected at all. Only after I had dropped it a number of more times by accident did the outside screen succumb. I could understand that because I dropped it from very high onto concrete. The inside screen still works, but after that last drop every 3 to 4 weeks of continued use it will lock up and I just have to turn it off and back on again.

The reception on this model has been excellent. I also have a Motorola work cell phone with T-Mobile and the reception is so bad I end up using the Sony for work as well! I rarely get dropped calls and have still reliably been able to keep a conversation going on a single bar!

My son hasn't had any problems with the phone at all either. Maybe we're just the lucky ones. I guess I am a little biased too since I tend to use my phone exclusively as a phone and don't care anything about playing music or taking pictures. I have great digital camera for pictures and an ipod for music.

1 out of 5 stars Display died   December 21, 2007

I've just finished calling AT&T yet again to say the display died on my phone. I had the first one for a few months before it happened. They replaced it. The second phone lasted only a couple of months before the same thing happened. I'm dead in the water without the display. I can't call anyone unless I know their number, can't see if I've missed a call or have a message, can't see if my battery needs charging. They won't give me a different model. And if I want a replacement in less than 5 business days, I have to pay $12 for shipping. I am a very unsatisfied customer and will ditch this phone as soon as I'm eligible for an upgrade.
