1 out of 5 stars Bluetooth Warning!!   June 17, 2008
4 out of 6 found this review helpful

I love this phone, always have. I loved everything about it. I could almost even text without looking. I've uploaded music onto the memory card so that it can play all of my favorite albums. Video, texting, call quality, everything.....except the bluetooth. It's faulty. It's not the software, it's the actual phone. I started researching it and found that everyone s having the same problem with the phone. I got my bluetooth replaced first, then the phone. Verizon is kind of hard to deal with when it comes to this phone. They won't believe you. I've fought with them for a while now and got them to offer me a free upgrade to a new phone.....B.S. Who cares about the upgrade, wow I get to pay $199 instead of the Fake $499 sticker price. I wish there was something I could do but there isn't. I even contacted LG directly and they were no help whatsoever. I'm great at fighting with companies to do whats right, but this has probably been my greatest challenge so far with a company. I don't really like any of the other phones available from verizon either so I'm kind of stuck. Hands free calling is going to be required by law in less then a month and I can't use my fancy Jawbone headset to do it...
You've been warned.

5 out of 5 stars Great Phone   June 12, 2008
I got this phone for free after I had to replace the LG Chocolate series 3 times. I really like the phone. The design is sophisticated, and the call quality is great. Battery life is good. One of the best phones I've ever had. I prefer Samsung, but this LG is good. Only cons I would say is it reflects sunlight pretty good, haha. So watch your eyes especially when you're driving and you go to use the phone when the sun is beaming on you, it will shoot sun rays into your eye balls and cause momentary blindness, haha. So be careful. Second, don't talk on this phone while it's hooked to the battery. You shouldn't anyways with any cell phone, but especially this one. I don't use blue tooth b/c personally I can't find any of them that work that well, but people complained about blue tooth not working on this phone and if that's the case then I can see where it would be a bad phone for those guys.

4 out of 5 stars LG VX8700 Great Phone   May 21, 2008

The LG VX8700 is a sleek nice looking phone. The metal exterior gives is a classic look. This sharp LG phone will guarantee many compliments. With everyone and their brother owning a Razor of some kind, this LG VX8700 will stand out among all Verizon phones.
All the standard features of are present: bluetooth, USB mass storage, mp3 player, and 2.0 MP camera. The sound quality is very good. The speaker phone will do the job. The user interface of the LG VX8700 is colorful and clear. It is very easy to use and is not over done with graphics and pictures.

The LB VX8700 takes great pictures. It is by far the best picture taking phone I have owned.

The phone charging port is on the side of the phone and it of course has its own unique charging cord. When we will have universal chargers via USB I will never know. The battery is good. I use my phone all the time so I charge it nightly. If it had slightly longer battery life, I would not complain but given the amount I use it for work, I am satisfied.

Overall I love the phone. If it was a USB charger, I would be ecstatic, but it is curse the phone carriers put on us consumers.

Disability Angle: The buttons are a decent enough size that I have no trouble using them. The background light is bright and the phone is easily readable. It does have voice commands so you can call someone without using the keypad.

Give it a shot. You will love it. [...]

3 out of 5 stars much better than my old Razr phone but I have one concern   May 5, 2008

First how it compares to my previous phone, a Motorola Razr: this LG phone is metal and thus sturdier. The LG port where you attach a charger has a cover over it so it doesn't get damaged by water, dirt, etc. I had problems with the uncovered port on the Razr. On the Razr it was very easy to accidentally hit the side buttons and thus change settings without even knowing it. The LG also has side buttons but they aren't as easy to accidentally depress.

So far this thing holds a charge much longer than my Razr did but the Razr battery declined continually, despite my doing the recommended full run down and full recharge periodically. I hope this phone's battery continues to outperform the Razr.

The numbers on the screen are big and that is very helpful as our baby boomer generation ages and starts needing eye glasses.

My one concern is the heat generated by the battery. The battery can get pretty hot if I talk for 30 minutes or more. I'm concerned about what effect this might have on the battery's life.

Overall I'm happy, this phones seems much better made than the Razr it replaced.

5 out of 5 stars Solid and Slim Phone   May 5, 2008

This phone is way that i would design it; slim, solid, good sound and navigational quality.

Phone fits perfect in a shirt or pants pocket, you hardly notice that it is there. The stainless-steel is a great touch and is perfectly fitted to the plastic.

Sound and navigational-friendlieness of phone is excellent.

Perfect phone for a 30+ person that doesn't text alot (like me). I really like the keypad since the keys are large but i can see how it would not be a good texting pad (i text about 10-20x per month). If you txt alot it may be a drawback for you.

Keys light up very well at night and outside display is well configured (aside from washing out in sunlight [which all color displays do, but the caller/time are in large text which helps outside readability]). Inside (main) dispay is very good quality.

2 Megapix camera is good for a camera phone.

I like micro sd storage under battery since i didn't ever remove the one in my old lg phone. Get the UBS cable and download the driver from Verizon.

Tried a samsung for a couple of days from verizon before choosing this LG. Happy every day that i did.

I love this phone...best one ive had for its generation since the original Startak.
