Such a disappointment! October 6, 2008 All I had was problems with this phone after the first week of having it. The phone started freezing and I would have to shut it off and back on again. I would try to push the dial pad button and the bottom row of shortcut keys would get pressed somehow. I would try to send a text message and it would hit cancel. The worst was when I was on the phone with my college and I had to enter in an extension and it wouldn't let me push the right buttons. I had to deal with trying over and over again for 45 mins until I almost through the phone out the window. I finally used my friends cell phone to call Verizon and demand an upgrade. They gave me a deal on the DARE and I am so happy to be rid of that stupid phone.
Do yourselves a favor and do not buy this phone. It seems all great the first week and then the problems set in. I have the Dare now and I love it. The touch screen is soooo much better than the glyde.
Plain and Simple: The Worse Phone Ever September 25, 2008 This is by far the worse phone I have ever owned in my entire life. I regret ever purchasing this phone. I've had this phone for 5 months now and I went to the Verizon store yesterday to get a software update in hopes that the touch screen would work again and after the update it only took five minutes of using the phone for it to act up again. The phone sucks, I hate it. It freezes up CONSTANTLY and it's so annoying. It's a pain to text message people and it's a pain to hang up the phone. There are so many negatives that I've read other people's comments and I am not going to repeat them again but I highly DO NOT recommend this phone. I wish I got the Voyager by LG it's a 100 times better. I got the Glyde out of being stubborn to prove to my wife that the there are better phones out there besides her Voyager. In fact, I am jealous of her Voyager. I love it, I wish I had it. Do not buy this phone!!
Negatives: Freezes up constantly (few times a day), cheesy ring tones, messaging is a pain, dialing is a pain, the dial pad is impossible to use, etc. etc. etc. and read other reviews!
Love the size and features, but the touch screen is making it unusable September 19, 2008 I've had this phone for about 10 weeks and I'm really getting frustrated with it. I bought it based on the size and features and am very happy with those aspects of the phone.
However, the touch screen frustrates more and more each day and I'm going to take it back to the Verizon store to see what they can do. It works for a while, but after you press a few buttons the screen will stop responding and when I finally get it back to the main screen it will display menu at the bottom of the screen no matter what part of the screen I touch. The only way to get it to stop doing that is to cycle power on it. It will be OK for a little while, but then the same problem starts.
I've also noticed that the lock mechanism seems to have a mind of its own. No matter whether I activate or deactivate it seems to always be in lock mode. I've sort of learned to live with that and would even forgive it if the touch screen worked. However, the touch screen is making the phone simply unusable. It's just not reasonable to have to cycle the power almost every time you try to use it.
If you're considering this model, I'd recommend looking at others. Having said that, I can also say that if Samsung were to come up with a reliable fix for this problem, I'd be very happy to keep the phone.
Highly Disappointed September 14, 2008 Was excited to receive my phone. Technology seems amazing but it goes down hill from there. Texting is great, qwerty key pad a plus. But phone freezes up constantly. Sometimes message is sent the minute you hit the send button, other times you have to press 3 or 4 times for it to respond. Answering is very cumbersome especially when driving, everything is 2-3 step process, press unlock button and then answer, press home button, then unlock, then end button to end call. Suffered with it for a week now and am returning tomorrow for the envy 2.
Worst Cell Phone Ever September 9, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the worst cell phone ever made. Do not buy this phone or you will regret it. The only people giving this phone a good review have either just unpacked it or work for Samsung. I have been a Verizon customer for a number of years and I'm extremely surprised that they would sell such a POS. This phone has dropped more calls in a month than my Krzr did in a year. It does not work in most of my house where I had absolutely no problem with my Krzr. The touch screen is awful. It does not work consistently and will activate keys on the opposite side of the screen. It has an terrible problem of making calls when you put it in you pocket. The keyboard is useless, unless you have the fingers of a small child. When listening to music the phone will pause the music if a text message comes in and you have to clear the message to listen to music. This is extremely inconvenient when riding a motorcycle. And to top it off, the phone only comes with 3 ringtones. Yes folks that right, THREE ringtones. It has no ability to modify images as my Krzr did. You can only flip or rotate the photos, no re-sizing or cropping or any other image enhancement. Every day I have this phone I regret not exchanging it within the 30 day window. Buyer Beware.
