| Customer Reviews:
small, a great speakerphone, good battery life February 7, 2008 I was giving the phone a one star, because of a problem described below. But the replacement works great, so I deleted my old review (The text attached below.) It is the best phone I have had so far. I am amazed by the quality of the phone's speaker; the sound is better than my tabletop stereo.
=== My original one-star review The phone locks whenever I turn on the camera. Maybe I am just unlucky, but I have to give it a 1-star. Hope the replacement will be better.
great phone, but physically not so great February 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ill be honest. This is one of the best phones I have owned. Ill be straight and to the point: Great phone, great menu and features. The only gripe i have is that it physically feels very cheap. Like all the other customers out there that bought this phone, my keypad started to crack too. Called AT&T today and they are sending me a new (referbished) phone, and well see if that ones any better. Overall, awesome phone but look out for cheap physical features.
Excellent technology, Inferior product January 12, 2008 16 out of 21 found this review helpful
Pros:
MP3 Player with great sound with and without earbuds, comparable to standalone mps players I own
Bluetooth built in
Internet is fast
2 Mega-Pixel camera with excellent quality photos and videos
Fitness application which counts steps, calories, and records progress
High Resolution screen
Camera protected in slider
Lots of Lights giving a cool futuristic look
Slick look in general
Shake and shuffle mode makes listening to your tunes easy and fun
Memory card allows up to 4 gb of songs
Video upload capablities
Long talk time of 9 hours
Great sound quality, the person on the other end of the phone sounds almost there
Cons:
I got mine last week and the 4 and 6 are cracked in half and the 7 is falling off also with little wear. The keys are made up of very thin plastic and crack if hit wrong; went to the AT&T store to find the store model also has cracked keys.
The keys not only break easily with minor usage but are very crammed and you will find yourself punching in more numbers then desired
The screen also isn't very well protected and very exposed which will most likely lead to future damage
The whole body and frame is made of plastic and feels cheap and flimsy
Memory card has to be a special one for sony phones only and are alot more pricey than the storage disk for competitor phones
No flash on camera
Bottom Line
If you aren't a perfectionist, texter, or cellphone gamer and are looking for a cheap phone with incredible technology and mp3 playback and don't mind if the phone is cracked up this is the phone for you. If you are one of the previously mentioned look to the new lg shine cu720 slider phone offering almost all of the same functions in a stainless steel body and keys. It may be more expensive but it is worth it. It was not in sony's best interest to produce such a top of the line phone from a technological stand point and then skimp on the materials, they should of charged a little more to make a more durable, less delicate phone.
Bad Phone!! January 12, 2008 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I just got a new W580I GRAY, and it's getting rebooted every 5 Min Custmer service with Amazon Suck big time, and so is Sony Erricson. The phone keep on asking to replace the Smart chip every 5 Min.
Nice phone but short battery life limits full usage January 7, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Bought this phone after much online research but little was mentioned of the extremely short battery life. I find I must recharge about every other day. I have the display brightness on lowest setting; turned off the cool light effects and turned off the fun step counter which lets u know how many miles u walked each day. I talk to a couple of people each day, send a few text messages and surf the internet a bit but seldom use the walkman feature. I do have songs downloaded and I do take pics with the phone. Everything works well.... but whatever use u make of the phone just sucks the energy out of the battery; be prepared to recharge often. The sound on the phone is somewhat muffled... on both ends. My old Nokia 6102 had clearer sound quality on the phone and a much longer battery life...
