Pearl is the bomb! May 14, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had my Pearl for over 4 weeks now. It was tricky to active on a Blackberry Enterprise Server, but now it works great! Love the size and good looks. This is my first BlackBerry and it's been really nice to have and the web browser is really fast. It's a little difficult (small) to read, but if you need something on the web, you got it! Also, the voice activated dialing works really well, especially with my motorola headset. This is TRULY handsfree! Highly recommend the Pearl!
Great Phone! May 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After using a Nextel 7520 for 2 years, I was ready for an upgraded phone with a camera. The Pearl is so much smaller that I was skeptical it could really do everything I needed. It CAN! The display is larger and much sharper and better than the Palm Treo 750 I thought I wanted.
I miss the built in GPS capability though. The keyboard works better than I expected for letters, but it's tedious sometimes to enter email addresses, names, web pages.
I love having any kind of ringtone I want now. The camera is nice to have, but the quality is a bit grainy. The size and weight are truly wonderful.
Good phone, but slow! May 10, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm not sure if this is the phone or just Cingular, but the service has been extremely slow since I switched to this phone. It takes a good 10 seconds for a text to go through, and my dropped calls have tripled with the Pearl. Aside from these problems, I really like it, but its slowness has made me consider switching back to my old Nokia!
Great Phone. A little desired on the headset that came with it. May 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my second smart phone after going through a palm treo 650. I've had it for about a week now and I love it. The phone is extremely light and small for a smartphone. I like to keep my phones in my pocket without it looking like a big tumour. Had issues with treo for that. The menu options are great, its nicely organized and easy to use. Keyboard like everybody said takes a little while to get used to.
Email Connectivity - I have a personal dataplan and had no issues setting up my blackberry email and gmail.
The only one problem I have is that the headset that came with the phone is not too good. Whenever I am on it, people on the other side complain that they can't hear me very well. I am not a very big bluetooth fan so this is imp to me. I am going to try some other headsets to see if its an issue with headset or the phone. Will update the review once I have had a chance to test that.
No issues otherwise. Happy I made this choice...
I was dubious, but it's great. April 7, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had several gens of the candybar blackberries, 7100 nice but reception/mike was horrendous, 7130 much better, finally nailed it. Was dubious when I had to take a pearl when my 7130 went funky.... but I'll give it the full thumbs up now. Slightly smaller than 7130, which oddly does make a difference, like size decreases give exponential feasibility increases or something. Makes my partner's Treo look like a firstgen cell in comparison. Unobtrustive in yr pocket. The "pearl" trackball is just fine, like it better than roller actually. Reception, mike quality are also good, despite concerns that they were reviewed worse than the 7130. Writing is good too, the suretype continuing to be so durn accurate I sometimes forget to check. And hey, I like having the camera. So, I thought the 7130 was my perfect smartphone, the one that I just stopped thinking about cause it did it all just great.... but actually... I like the Pearl better. If you need bulletproof email, PDA, and phone, this is yr baby. Slightly shorter battery life, but hasn't stranded me yet.
