awesome January 6, 2007 I put this thing on the day it came in the mail, and dropped it the next day. Thankfully, it kept my purchase from harm. The protection here is great, that was precisely what i was looking for.
The skin is made of a tough rubber it feels like, it was a little hard to get it over the iPod, but it certainly stays on without any trouble. The screen protector is awesome, it has a ring of rubber around the back of it to keep it from scratching up against your iPod's screen.
This was an excellent purchase for me, im overseas right now, and need something to keep all the sand out of my iPod, and keep it from getting beat up in the truck. Thank you Speck Products.
It works! December 18, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have owned two ipods. The first one fell off a bathroom counter onto a tile floor and never worked again. The second one had this toughskin on when it fell from my hip onto a concrete driveway. I am enjoying some music on it as I am writing this review. Great product, a must.
I own it November 24, 2006 3 out of 11 found this review helpful

Nice But Over-designed November 6, 2006 51 out of 52 found this review helpful
While I have been generally happy with this cover, I do think it is a bit over-designed. There will be individuals subjecting their iPod Nanos to severe impacts who may realize value from this product. Yet, I actually believe most silicone or leather covers will suffice, no matter how abusive the abuser is. For some, the particular appeal of the ToughSkin design may be cosmetics. In fact, it would pair nicely with ruggedized Nextel phone.
One may ask, what could be the problem with an extra thick cover? The biggest annoyance is its interference with the control surface due to the thickness of the rubber. The circular edge on the main opening is beveled to add clearance, but it is still difficult to control the player, especially when inside of a pocket.
What strikes me a bit odd is the ToughSkin does not hold the Nano in position firmly enough. The player shifts occasionally, which then misaligns the main opening. Clearly this is a design flaw.
Despite its shortcomings, the ToughSkin is a nice protector. The notched rubber will absorb severe shocks. In addition, it has some nice extras. Much like a cell phone holder, it comes with a swivel belt clip. Unlike many Nano covers, there is an integrated screen cover. In the end, considering the pros and cons of this accessory, it is a bit overpriced - much like all iPod accessories.
Pros Extremely rugged Belt clip Integrated screen protector Easy to hold on to
Cons Too thick around control surface Expensive Doesn't hold IPOD firmly enough
