Did not work as stated...SVAT UC1700C July 25, 2008

This is a Pinhole Camera and designed as a security device. Item did not perform as listed. The camera settings would auto reset to mfg. defaut settings when unplugged from electrical outlet. Item states that it works on battery power or by using an electrical outlet. Item did not hold settings under battery power and once it was removed from electrical outlet. Return was requested from company who did not note the camera malfunctioning problems, and just listed that I did not like the item as reason for return.
The SVAT UC1700 is a good idea in theory, just did not perform as marketed.
I have returned this product to seller due to it malfunctioning and resetting to factory defaut settings. The item also listed a motion detector sensor but once that was triggered the item did not shut off until the storage drive was completely full. (256 MB)
I was given NO indicaton that this order was coming from Canada until the order booked. It took 10 days for the item to arrive which included 2 days for the company to process the order. The item arrived double packed in a double box which the internal box was damaged (crushed).
The RETURN "had to go back US Mail" to seller in Canada. (Company charges $25 extra to receive returns via UPS or FedEx.) US Mail was required to avoid that fee and the uplifted in return shipping costs is significant to track a shippment. ($40 plus for 2 lbs)
I will likely re-think any future order thoughts from this company or any Canadian business because of shipping methods and costs for returns, especially since the item was faulty to begin with. I have spent nearly 50% of the item's value on shipping fees to and from Canada...what a waste of everyone's time and MY money!!!
Not real happy with product and not real happy with the company's restrictive return policy. Now I wait to see how long it takes for this company to acknowledge reciept of the product and provide a credit back to my account.
All I can say...is do your research and know who you are buying from FIRST!!! Or...learn and burn!
