Great product July 21, 2008 This memory card and card reader worked great on my trip to Europe in July 08. 16 gb is a lot of memory. I like the idea of memory car instead of DVD because it is easy to edit. The memory card reader allows me to use the memory card in any computer. Canon has a great idea with this product.
Fast, large and so far, very reliable July 14, 2008 I have had this card and my new 10.2MP Nikon D80 for 3 weeks and both work very well together. The card holds 1,200 photos (I shoot RAW only) and since I use Auto-Bracketing, I really only get 400 unique shots per card. That is a few hours for me. Quick tip- as soon as you get a memory card (any card), format it on the camera (not the computer) and then ONLY use it with that camera. Switching cards between cameras will sometimes corrupt them.
I like the media card reader that comes with it since a lot of older computers with card readers will not recognized an SDHC card. With or without the card reader, this card is wicked fast too. My 2 GB SD card would take 45 minutes to offload the images on the built in card reader. This card and reader can offload 2 GB of images in 90 to 120 seconds on the same machine!
I liked this card so much, I bought two more last week.
Terrific Card! July 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the card and reader to use with a new Canon FS100 camcorder and it works perfectly. I have had no problems with the card, it is fast and it loads on both my Vista Laptop and IMac.
Watch out for infant mortality July 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Watch out for early death on these cards. I put mine in a Canon XSi and did a low-level format - worked fine. Took some shots, put the card in the USB connector, sucked all the pics off, deleted them, then put the card back in the camera. Camera doesn't think there's a card in it. Tried a low level format: no dice. Plug back into USB connector and back into PC - PC won't recognize card exists, no way, no how. All in less than a week.
Bought a second card, ran the same sequence except I used the camera to delete all pictures, not the PC. Everything seems to be working fine after 3 days. Will update if any change.
GOOD BUY - Transcend 16GB SDHC + Compact Card Reader July 4, 2008 This product gives the versatility of a SDHC card that can be used in lots of devices like Digital Photo Cameras, some MP3 players, and others. (Just be sure your device supports the newer SDHC format, many only support the older lower capacity SD).
Also, when used with the Compact Card reader, it can be used like if it were a USB memory stick, altough because of the way the SDHC card is inserted on the reader, it's not to be used in agressive environments or applications.
Read/Write speeeds are up to its Class 6, which are good enough for me.
16 GB is a LOT of storage space! Almost four DVD's full of files can be stored in this little piece of plastic/silicon.
Have used this product for a couple of weeks without problems, but it's still too early to judge its long term reliability.
Overall, I think that the price per GB, the speed and the convinience makes it a good value.
