I have one of these chargers in my office and recently bought another for travel. I like the universal voltage so it can be used abroad--you may need a plug adapter but won't need a voltage converter.

I have used this charger for about a year and a half with both 2300mAh and 2500mAh Sony batteries and am thoroughly unimpressed (I am talking about much more than the longish charge time mentioned in most of the other reviews).
Though this charger has nice-sounding features ("smart" charging technology, battery refresh option), these features do not seem to result in decent-performing rechargeable batteries.
I have used Sony AA/AAA batteries in digital camereras, Wii controllers, and LED flashlights and find them to be noticeably inferior to older NIMH Energerizer batteries charged in the standard Energizer quick charger.
I have about 8 pairs of Sony AA and 4 AAA in rotation and despite periodic use of the Refresh function on the charger, these Sony batteries seem to keep little charge. Perhaps this Sony charger is defective, but it gives no other indication of that.
I will be giving away said charger and batteries on Craigslist as soon as I get more Energizers, so keep an eye out if you still are sold on Sony.

These batteries never worked. I had to buy expensive batteries in London because I took these with me and they let me down.

Extra price = Extra quality. Fast recharge time compared to others and 4 batteries meant, I could recharge one set, while using the other set for my camera. GMVB

Pros:
- reliable, batteries don't seem to be quickly dying off
- small and convinient design
Cons:
- takes good 4 hours to charge
