The Kindle is great for what I wanted it for; reading books. Another benefit is no more book cases. Criticisms in other reviews may be valid, but I'm very happy. It's right for me

I love my new Kindle. I have downloaded and read numerous books in a very short time. I do not have to store these books, I can keep them on my Kindle itself, but it is also kept in my Amazon Kindle account on line, so should my Kindle get full-- I have about 10 to 15 full length novels on it now-- I can easily remove them from the Kindle and reload them from Amazon at any time. Very easy to download books, literally takes about 1 minute. It is a very convenient size and very light also.
This Kindle is very user friendly, and with only a small bit of directions you can get started reading. The script looks like a real print book, easier on the eyes than if it were made with back-light.

The Kindle is a terrific product. I've found very little to complain about with the Kindle.
Pros:
1. The device is so easy to use. The user manual located on the device
makes it easy to get started.
2. I found it easy to transfer the books (downloaded from other
websites) from my computer to my Kindle. (Mobi pocket only).
3. The design of the Kindle offers great readability in all types of
light. In fact, the light gray background makes it easier to read in
direct sunlight.
4. The battery life is awesome. I've been able to go about 5-7 days
between charges(with the wireless switched off most of the time).
5. The `next page' navigation buttons located on each side of the device
makes it easy to use in any situation.
Cons:
1. The `next page' button on the right hand side is too large. The size
makes is too easy to turn pages accidentally.
I recommend purchasing a different book cover. The cover that comes with the Kindle is not secure, but does serve its purpose temporarily.
I LOVE my Kindle. The price is a bit high, but well worth it. Several websites offer free books from the Gutenberg Project (legal) which makes it easy to build your classics library.
I rate this product 4.5 stars out of 5.

After taking stock of both the positive and negative reviews posted I decided to take the plunge and buy a Kindle. Best money I've spent in a long time.
I find it very easy to use, and the display is really easy on these aging eyes. It's sharp and crystal clear, unlike more than a few printed books I've read. And the perfectly flat pages, which read the same from any angle are also a blessing. Reading with it is a real pleasure, and I read a lot.
Now that I've used it for a while (well into my second book), I find I can't understand many of the harsh criticisms I've read.
I have no issues with the button placements. It fits naturally in my hand, with the next page button only a twitch of my thumb away. And I find my hands don't get tired like they do when trying to hold a thick, heavy book open wide enough to get a clear view of the text near the binding.
As to the very slight delay and the black screen flicker when turning pages, how is this any more distracting than turning the page of a book? After a few minutes, I stopped even noticing it.
Yes, the little plastic tab that is supposed to hold it in the cover doesn't work very well. So what? As several have pointed out, get a small piece of velcro. Problem solved. A minor nit at best.
Which bring me to the library of available books. Do they have the entire library of congress? No. It's a new technology people. A few months after DVD's came out, did they have every movie that had ever been made available on DVD? Of course not. But there are over 140,000 books listed in the library today. I'm an avid sci-fi reader and they have almost 5000 titles. If I can't find something to read out of that, I'm not much of a reader. I've already started loading it up with some excellent titles, both new and old.
Is it perfect? Of course not. Will it ever be? No, of course not. But the one thing that will hinder its improvement and the number of books available will be if people refuse to use it because of some minor nit picks. I hear a lot of "Wait for version 2, it will be better". Yes, I guess there were a lot of people still going out in the weather after the indoor toilet was invented "waiting for version 2". If you pass up every new technology on the grounds that you are waiting for something better, while the rest of us take advantage of what's available now...today.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a good book to read.

I couldn't be happier with my Kindle. It makes reading faster and less cumbersome. It's a pleasure now to read at lunch, easier to read in bed, and to have multiple books going. I just love the ease of reading on the Kindle. I read faster and more often than with a traditional book and I prefer to read on the Kindle now.
The wireless component is just amazing. No syncing to a computer. After completing my first book and lying in bed past midnight, I connected to the Kindle store, browsed books and made my next selection. You just can't beat that convenience.
During a book discussion at dinner in a restaurant I downloaded a sample and passed the Kindle around for everyone to read. Waiters were stopping wanting to know what it was. It enhanced the discussion.
Being able to get a book just released in hard cover for a mere $9.99, how can you beat that? No waiting for paperbacks.
I'm not a high-tech person, but even I can manage this device. Even downloaded some music to it for background noise. You don't have to be a heavy traveler or commuter to love the Kindle.
If you're reading the Kindle page and you're dying to get one, don't wait. Just do it, you will love it.
