5 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more pleased with the 660.   November 28, 2007

I bought my Nuvi 660 one year ago and I am VERY pleased with it overall. The boatload of features, great graphics, reasonably accurate routing and Garmin quality are just a few of the reasons I love it.

I travel extensively throughout the U.S. via a large motorhome towing a personal vehicle. The 660 has been an absolute lifesaver when negotiating complex metropolitan freeways and route changes. The excellent audio directions allow me to fully concentrate on driving the rig in heavy traffic. Just listen and follow the directions!

As other reviewers have mentioned, the unit is not perfect when it selects the route. Even with the provided preferences it often does not pick the most logical route. With this in mind I always double-check its choice against my roadmap. For me this is not a major drawback, as it more than makes up for it in so many other ways.

I highly recommend this unit, especially at the current price here.

5 out of 5 stars After using other brands, Garmin is the best   November 28, 2007

I've had and used about 5 different GPS systems over the last 6 years. My first one was Navman for my Compaq Pocket PC. Although when I got it I thought it was great but today it would be ancient technology.

I then was in Florida on vacation and was tired of it freezing so I bought at Magellan 300. I didn't like that you had to connect it to power as there was no battery and the routes weren't very good so I returned it.

I then bought a TomTom Go 300 and loved that and still have it. Its screen is somewhat dim compared to newer ones and it won't sync with my iphone. The software update now lets you see the address of a POI whereas before you didn't know where you were going. For instance, you type in "Wendy's" and it would not let you know where you are going but the update now does which is good.

Then I bought Pioneer AVIC S1 as a gift for a friend and used it first and liked it although the touch screen wasn't quite as responsive as TomTom. I then got to use Lowrance iway i350 for a week. I was not impressed at all as the routes were somewhat bizarre.

Then I bought the Nuvi 350 and it was and still is terrific. The touch screen is very responsive, maps are accurate and the form factor and added features made it great for $400 compared to the launch price of almost $1000.

Last month I got to try the new Navigon 7100. The specs were terrific but using it was a disappointment. The touch screen was very unresponsive, you had to push hard on the screen with no sound so you don't know if it registered. The traffic was free for life which I thought was an added bonus but using it was very disappointing as you really couldn't understand the unfriendly interface. I couldn't sync it with my iphone. The mapping software always gave me bizarre routes. The windsheild mount looked good but was difficult connecting it.

Then I just got the Nuvi 660 for only $399 at Amazon, which is cheaper than today at nearly $500. I don't know why the price flucuates but at $399 I couldn't turn it down. The 660 is like a larger, BRIGHTER 350 with more features. It includes the FM radio, Traffic radio, Bluetooth and other features not found on the 350. After using it for only one day, I am completely amazed at what its capable of and very easy use. The screen is proabably twice as bright as the 350 so its easy to see on the brightest of days. The text to speech is great (just like the 350). The bigger screen makes typing a joy. After having and used several other companies GPS, Garmin is my very FAVORITE.

5 out of 5 stars Love my Nuvi   November 27, 2007

I love my Garmin Nuvi - drove from DC to Atlanta this Thanksgiving and since I have the FM transmitter it detected a delay around Charlotte and routed us around it - slick! Then on the way home we came across a long line of red tail lights - must have been an accident up ahead. I pressed the detour button and voila - it routed us around that, too! I love this thing sooooo much.

The maps hve issues with left and right in some instances it tells me ariving on right but the location is on the left.

also the trafic alert system is 30min to an hour off here in atlanta also it only alerts to traffic on the freeways. so if you are buying it for the traffic alert dont waste your money.

The nuvi 660 GPS is the best!! The unit is so user friendly with a ton of features. They have really inproved on the GPS's since the orignal ones 5 years ago. So many more listing for stores and anything else you are looking for. I am always amazed at how much information is available with it. I started using the uinternet to look up things, but the GPS can find it better with point to point directions. I just moved to a new area and this is a invaluable resource to have.
