2 out of 5 stars defective ipod   August 24, 2008

It was defective so I took it to the Apple store. They were great and exchanged it for another.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of capacity   August 24, 2008
I cannot believe how much I have loaded onto this unit and have hardly taken up any space at all. 508 songs and podcasts so far and have only used up about one eighth the space. It is very easy to use once you figure out the itunes site. The sound quality is superb.

4 out of 5 stars Best electronic investment I've ever made   August 22, 2008
Aside from the unfortunate fact that you must use iTunes, I'm thrilled with my 80G iPod. I was concerned about dropping that much money for one item, in case that the novelty would wear off and it would gather dust somewhere. I keep it with me all the time (I HIGHLY suggest buying a good protective case for it - I bought a hard plastic case from iSkin that I'm very happy with). I like the large capacity, so I can keep my entire music library, many podcasts and a bunch of audio books available at all times. Other than learning the hard way how to use iTunes, and how to recover when the database crashes, I love my iPod, and have certainly got my money's worth.

5 out of 5 stars My First iPod! :)   August 21, 2008

Hi folks. I have waited for years to try an iPod. I figured after 8 years, Apple should have all the bugs worked out by now. And for the most part they do. The sound of this iPod is great. You should be using Sony MDR headphones for the given quality of your music. I sample my mp3s into 256K, Normal Sterio, and NO VBR.

My iPod has never skipped a song. It always finishes the song clean and nice. The menus could use a little optimizing as they are sometimes skittish. But they eventually work great.

I give this iPod 5 stars for the sheer sound quality playback it gives. Great Job Apple. It is so nice to have an iPod. No more CDs! :)

I THINK THAT THE IPOD CLASSIC IS A REALLY GOOD IPOD. THEY CHANGED MANY DETAILS FROM THE LAST IPOD BUT IT ISN'T A VERY BIG DEAL. SOMETHING THAT I DON'T LIKE IS THAT YOU CAN'T ZOOM INTO PICTURES.
