Can't say enough about this product .... Garmin should provide this instead of the windshield suction mount!
Garmin dashboard mount flawless August 22, 2008
recently used the Garmin dashboard mount on our trip to Myrtle Beach. Since I am a law enforcement officer I know what thieves are looking for. With the Garmin dashboard mount you can easily take the bag off your dashboard and place it under your seat. It is such an advantage over the window mount. Many times people have their GPS's stolen because they have the mount stuck to their window, even though the GPS is not connected, thieves are smart enough to see this and realize that the GPS is probrably in the car somewhere. The dashboard bag, as I call it is easily accecable and does not slide or move when driving, you can easily move it around and adjust it. the GPS mounts to it and disconnects very easily. I love this product.
Great alternative August 22, 2008
This product is a great alternative to the windshield holder. Removes easily to protect against theft and is more visable when in use.

As a California resident, it's illegal for me to use a windshield mount - I'd be concerned about using one anyway, because I think they encourage theft.
On the other hand, I was skeptical that a beanbag-style mount would stay in place during, let's say, "spirited" driving.
Turns out that's no problem. This thing stays put long after everything else on the dash/console/seats (that's not attached) have taken flight.
I've gone from skeptical to very satisfied.

The other reviewers have said it all re the advantages! I was the numbskull who didn't realize the sucker windscreen attachment would quite quickly become useless if left there in DC's broiling summer sun. Which of course happened within 6 weeks. The wretched thing kept coming unstuck and really became a driving hazard on more than one occasion. This friction mount has been terrific, yes, OK, it's a bit large, but easily moved when you don't need it, eg, when you want to hide the fact that you've got a GPS system. It certainly hasn't slid across the dashboard, and shows no signs of doing so. I'm delighted I bought it.
