Just what we wanted September 6, 2008 My wife wanted this product to organize old photos (some dating back to the 1920's) for a family reunion in August 08. She was able to improve the quaility and organize them for all to view. This machine is quite a unit.
Amazing scanner for old photos ! September 6, 2008 I just got this today, and I'm simply blown away. I had to archive a lot of faded family pictures from 30-40 years ago, and I was getting terrible results with my old scanner (streaking, bad colors, etc.), so I bit the bullet on this scanner based on the Amazon recommendations. WOW, is this thing amazing - the "Fading correction" image correction is beyond words - it makes these terribly faded, yellow pictures look like they were taken recently. Very fast as well.

This product delivered as advertised. I use it to scan my 35mm slides. At 1200 dpi, it takes 30 seconds per slide. I scanned some slides at 4800 dpi, but couldn't see any difference between it and the 1200 dpi.
Very nice August 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this several months ago with the intent of scanning slides that were up to 25 years old. It is an ongoing project mainly for the winters and will take a few years. I am very happy with the quality of the images and the scan time. The software that came with the unit works fine for my purposes to rid any dust, scratches, lighten, deal with back light, etc. We also use it to scan and e-mail documents for various purposes. It is long so it takes a chunk of the desktop so make sure you have the room.
Scans as good as my SLR digital camera originals August 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I scanned some old slides, taken by another photographer, and cleaned them up using Photoshop Elements. They were as easy to clean as the shots I take with my new Nikon digital SLR. I was worried the hues would be off, but no sweat: just routine white-point, black-point tweaks needed. Four stars only because I didn't try Canon's built-in software for editing. Routine copying is fast; construction feels rugged.
