5 out of 5 stars Waking up to nature sounds rocks!!   October 1, 2008
I bought a couple radios that said "Wake up to nature sounds", but they sounded so mechanical. Where do I begin...With the Timex T617S I like the choices of nature sounds; my fave is the Tibeten sounding gongs, my other half prefers the frogs. I so enjoy being able to control how bright the time face is. I prefer to have the room as dark as possible, so in the past having that very bright green blue or red lighting of the time in my room always kept me up. Third big perk is controlling how long I snooze; lot's of options. My other half absolutely LOVES the "smart knob"; being able to turn the knob to set time, versus holding down a button. Doesn't it suck when you go past the time you need and you have to keep going forward. Better yet you try and speed up the process by continuously pressing the button. It's everything we need, plus more. We love it!

1 out of 5 stars Poor quality control   September 17, 2008

I bought it, opened it up, plugged it in and The 'Nature Sounds' did not work. I called up their customer support and was told to return it.

How did this pass quality control?

This is a good looking clock radio with features that are desirable.
Too bad it doesn't work.

Timex better get their act together and make sure that a product is not defective before sending it out.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Product   September 16, 2008

I do dislike being negative, but receiving an electronic product that doesn't work right out of the box was quite disappointing and requires some level of exposure. The volume control simply did not work at all. The sound volume was stuck at one, loud level and would not change. The Company made it such a hassle to exchange the defective article that it was going to cost me money to get an exchange. Thus, I would end up payng more than the sales price to get one that worked.

I would not be able to recommend a Timex product for the poor quality and unacceptable lack of customer service.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to Use   August 22, 2008
This is a great clock Radio. The alarm is easy to set. Nice large numbers and alarm icons. Only problem is the first one we ordered had a broken knob and had to be returned.

1 out of 5 stars Just Stopped Working after 3 weeks!   August 1, 2008
Got this because of some good reviews, mainly because it seemed to have an easy to use interface.

The basic problems seem to stem from the location of many of the controls on the front panel which is a CD door that opens and closes.

In only a few weeks of use, and not using CD or MP3 player, it just stopped working. All of the controls either stopped responding or began to operate other functions in a chaotic way. Became impossible to read time, set alarm, play radio, or turn off "nap" setting timer.

Over all, probably a design flaw that places sensitive controls in an unstable, risky location on the device.
