I bought these speakers for my boyfriend for his birthday and he loves it. Very travel friendly with the travel case, very user friendly with the remote and great sound!!!!
Good Sound and Mighty Stylish to Boot April 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just got these Logitech portable speakers for my iPod and let me tell you I couldn't be happier. They sound great, so plus I have to sacrifice style as they look like they were made by Apple just to go with the iPod. The speakers come with their own custom traveling case to protect them from scratches and bumps and it goes without saying that you also get a remote, AC adapter, and users manual, so if you've got an iPod and want good sound coming from it, then you just might want to check these speakers out. Plus another plus is that they are not so gosh darned expensive and that's a mighty big plus as far as I'm concerned.
Lots of promise, but doesn't deliver much April 14, 2008 I was really excited about these speakers, despite the fact that its battery is built in (I always prefer standard batteries to utilize my own rechargeables - what happens when the battery unit in this goes bad?)
But once I received it, I immediately was disappointed. There simply isn't enough volume to fill out even a small room. With so little sound, the quality is almost irrelevant and the usefulness goes to nil. I am very disappointed.
I've changed my mind - add more stars to my rating! April 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I couldn't resist ordering one of these when they were on sale for $43.99. Mine arrived a few days ago.
I'm editing my initial review and at this point I'd like to add a star or two to my initial two-star rating (apparently Amazon doesn't let you change your initial star rating when you edit a review).
I dashed off my initial review when the battery didn't seem to hold any charge at all. I would charge the unit for well over four hours but then when I tried to turn the speakers on I would just get a blinking red light (= "charge the battery"). A couple of days later I've tried it again and now I've been listening to music on battery power for several hours and counting. Maybe the battery just needed to come out of hibernation after an extended stay in Amazon's warehouse. I called Logitech and they said that if the battery was dead on arrival I should immediately get an exchange from Amazon. After that, Logitech covers the product for two years and will replace the entire unit if the battery fails during that time. I'll update this review with any further interesting information about the battery.
Quite a few reviewers here have compared the mm50 to the Bose SoundDock. I recently heard the Bose at a store, and I have to say that even though the Bose is ridiculously overpriced, the mm50's sound isn't in the same league. Still, the mm50 has very good sound for its size and price. It's great for both music and spoken-word podcasts. If it turns out that my battery is indeed working properly, I will change my rating to five stars.
UPDATE: I'm having a battery-related issue that I haven't seen anyone else describe in these reviews. The red "charge battery" light on my mm50 always blinks three times when I turn the speakers on or off, even when I've just charged the battery to the point where the blue "charging battery" indicator has stopped blinking. It seems that the battery is not holding a charge at all. But if I start playing music on outlet power and then disconnect the power cord, the speakers continue to play for hours. Basically, I always have to be connected to outlet power initially to use the speakers on battery power. This largely defeats the purpose of having portable, battery-powered speakers. Has anyone else had this problem? I've started a discussion titled "Battery needs boost from outlet to start playing!!" Please reply there. (You can see the discussions for a product if you click on Customer Reviews and then go to the bottom of the page.) Thanks!
3G nano April 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this system! It works like a champ with my 3G Nano - it came with an adapter that fits it perfectly. The sound quality is wonderful and it's very portable! I keep it at work, just the right size on my desk!
