Bad Service August 1, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered an ac adapter for my camera and I was sent the wrong product. Mistakes happen, I realize this. The really bad part is customer support said that they could not send the correct part and, it will be several days to refund my money. Now I have no adapter, they have my money. I will never buy from compusa or amazon again. I have had problems with compusa before but this will be the last time I fall prey to such bad customer service. VERY UNHAPPY!!!
A Must Have for long films and high volumes of photographs. August 16, 2004 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
I will begin by saying I cannot believe the poor quality of the previous reviews, simply atrocious. On to what I hope will be helpful to others.
If you have a Canon Powershot, chances are you will be fine just using the battery. I bought a second battery so that I don't have to worry about running out of power while I'm shooting photographs.
In contrast, I purchased the ACK-500 for my S410 so that I can shoot long films and a high volume of photos without wasting the battery. It is important to realize that the Canon NB-1LH battery has 400-500 charge/discharge cycles (third-party batteries have even fewer).
For most people the number of cycles isn't a big deal. But say you want to shoot 6 hours of film in a single location or you are shooting a ton of flash photos from a single location - doing all this using batteries would become tedious and you'd quickly use up your battery's effective life. With the AC Adapter Kit you can go indefintely, as long as you're connected to a power source of some sort.
The kit comes with a little rectangle that looks like the battery but feels lighter. You put it in the same spot as the battery, then you plug in the AC adapter and run the power cable to the faux-battery (that's what the rubber cover on the battery slot is all about). Setup is a piece of cake and it works exactly as advertised.
The kit is great for some people; I would suggest you buy your camera and use it for awhile. Try to think about how you use the camera and what you want to use it for and then make your purchase.
Nao tem muita utilidade February 19, 2003 3 out of 70 found this review helpful
Small, light weight and easy to use June 9, 2002 43 out of 72 found this review helpful
This small digital camera is very easy to use and is small enough to fit into a pocket or purse. The owner's manual is clear and the displays are well-designed. If you haven't used the camera for a while, or only skimmed the manual, you can figure out the basic controls fairly well. The LCD screen is a nice size and gives a clear sharp picture. It takes approximately 2 hours to charge the battery. I bought an extra battery and the upgraded memory card. I would strongly recommend getting the larger memory card. I would also recommend getting the AC adapter kit when you buy the camera. Without it, you will be using up battery power when you download the pictures to your computer.
