Great rechargable batteries September 24, 2008 These batteries last a long time in my DSLR camera, and recharge in 15 minutes. These are the best rechargeable batteries that I have ever used.
ULTRA FAST ... BUT SHORTENS BATTERY LIFE September 22, 2008 PROS: Works as advertised, charges AA batteries really quickly (15-25 minutes for 1600mAH AA batteries). Since it charges so fast, the batteries get really hot (which shortens their life, as expected). The fan helps but not enough to keep them completely cool during charging.
CONS: the single LED does not tell you which battery is bad and/or which battery is being charged
CONS: it heats up the battery a lot, but what would you expect for something that is charging a AA battery at 6000mA!
NOTE: everyone should ignore those reviews of it charging less and less ... it isn't the charger ... it is the heat of charging the batteries, which shortens the battery life (which is EXPECTED). Buy a slower charger if you want the batteries to have a longer life.
The only reason I gave it 4-STARS is because it has only one LED. If it had 4 LEDs, it would have gotten 5-STARS.
Would I buy it again? YES I would. However, I wouldn't use it unless I absolutely needed to ultra fast charge my batteries (like when I am about the leave the house and forgot to start charging the batteries the day before).
Faulty Battery or Charger? June 5, 2008 First month, the batteries worked great. 2nd month some batteries were dead already...couldn't charge them. From the horror stories i read here...i think i might need to get a non-duracell charger to charge my batteries (if they still work). Bad buy...would next consider buying the Sanyo brand pre-charged batteries that my friends are raving about.
Charger lasts less than a year May 1, 2008 I had this charger for about a year now. I was surprised when my batteries stopped getting recharged and I decided to look for new batteries. Now after reading the rest of the reviews I realized the problem with this charger. It worked great at the beginning. And it started to charge the batteries less and less. I thought it was the batteries I guess I was wrong. I don't need to buy new batteries, just new charger!!!!
Utter dissapointment February 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I initially bought this charger and 8 AA batteries. I began using the precharged batteries in my Wii controllers, since the charger would not charge them further. The wiimotes registered the batteries as having a half charge, and when they died, the charger refused to charge them. It seems the 'intelligence' Duracell put into this charger is completely insane. It tells me that dead batteries are charged, and refuses to charge them.
Since it took me awhile to go thru all 8 batteries, I am outside of Best Buy's 30 day warranty. Now I'm stuck, and I'll have to fight with Duracell to refund the nearly $100 I wasted on this absoultely worthless product. I have no idea how anything this bad got through any kind of quality assurance process. I used to be a relatively loyal Durcell customer, but depending on how they resolve this failure, I may never buy anything from them again.
***Update*** Upon further review, I determined the problem was the charger, not the batteries at all. A coworker was able to charge the batteries to maximum charge in a normal (slow) Sony charger that came with her digital camera. After filing a formal complaint with Duracell, they sent me ~$60 worth of manufacturer coupons for free recharable AA batteries. Although I still have a faulty charger, I do appreciate their gesture.
