1 out of 5 stars Really disappointed   February 8, 2008

I haven't played a lot of video games, but I did play God Of War before starting this one. What a huge let down. Way lousier graphics, character controllability, story line, and endless "loading" delays. Bleccchhh!

5 out of 5 stars San Andreas..   January 18, 2008
If you want a game that's close to the real life situations or just a game that seems almost real.. this game is the spot!

Play this all the time

4 out of 5 stars Much different than the Driver series, but fun on its own merits   December 28, 2007
After being a fan of the Driver series and trying the first two or three GTA games, I couldn't see why people were comparing the two games. Maybe I didn't give the first GTA games a decent chance, because I was too absorbed by the "behind the wheel" feeling of Driver (despite its bugs, which have become amusing). My limited experience with the first GTA games was that GTA felt like a car version of Frogger, due to the overhead viewing angle. San Andreas is better in that respect, but it was amusing to see that I could pick up prostitutes and have fun with them, and later kill them and take their money if so desired. (Just be careful who you choose to kill or where you do it, because the cops and/or other people might gang up on you, in which case you will probably get killed. LOL.) The action outside of the car is perhaps where San Andreas stands out against the Driver series. I still can't see why some people want to compare Driver and GTA as if they are the same kind of games, because they aren't. Both are good in their own ways, but definitely don't fall into the same category for comparison purposes. If you are more interested in behind-the-wheel action, Driver seems to be more exciting. If you are looking more for out-of-the-car action, GTA is probably the way to go. I like both the Driver series and GTA San Andreas. Maybe I should revisit the earlier GTA games and see if I'm missing out on some of the out-of-the-car fun.

5 out of 5 stars An Epic Masterpiece   December 6, 2007

The player gets the PROFOUND feeling that they have been tranposrted to a real living breathing early 90s California (and Vegas) world. A world full of opportunity, music, humor, and danger. It feels so real sometimes that you'd swear that unknown, possibly dangerous, activities are taking place all around you whether you're playing on that street or twenty blocks away. No other game has ever been this ambitious and this successful at reaching it's goals. Halo, for example, is a child's tinker toy compared to this.

I bought it as a gift for someone and he loves the game. Sometimes I can't even get him off it
