4 out of 5 stars Don't write a review for a product you have not played.   November 17, 2007
It is truly amazing how many people write reviews for products that they have not actually played/tried themselves yet....and then give it a high or low score. Don't get me wrong for this is truly a great game. The graphics are amazingly well done and I have not personally noticed any frame rate issues on my play through the game. However, I did notice a rare "tearing" here and there... but that in itself does not distract you from the game. It is a very small distraction if you look for it. As usual with games, movies, etc... opinions roam supreme and that is all they are... one person's interpretation and is based somewhat on what type of games, etc... that person enjoys. If you like games that are pretty much open to do as you like and at your own "timing" to plan how you would like to accomplish something presented in the game... then you will not be disappointed in this game. Of course there is some linearity to this game... (aren't there in all games...you have to follow along in a story in all games)...but I am not sure why a couple of reviewers even brought this issue up and compared it to Oblivion. Even though you are capable of talking to characters that you come up to in Oblivion...all are programmed with a response so there really is no randomness involved with it and most are mundane responses that have nothing to do with your quest at hand. If you want to call that better interactions...go right ahead with that belief. But I digress... back to the game. The story is unbelievably well done. The gameplay mechanics are actually quite intuitive and innovative. I personally have had no issues whatsoever with my copies (both 360 and PS3) and they work fine. On the fanboyism side of things, no is no appreciable difference between the two consoles. If you are used to looking for differences, you will notice a slightly better lighting in the 360 version and the framerates appear slightly better in the PS3. The tearing I mentioned earlier seems more prevalent to occur on the 360 vs. the PS3 (not sure why...but I would assume that it is because this game was originally developed for the PS3 first and not just ported over). My personal opinion is that this is a game worth owning. Most people will not be disappointed with this purchase even if you are on a budget and can only buy so many games every so often. There is quite a bit of replay value given how the environment responds to your own actions. The only reason I give it a 4 out of 5 stars is because of the aforementioned MINOR flaws. UBISOFT is known for very poor ports (this is improving though) but you have to remember that it takes time to truly get used to programming for a system's abilities and take use of its full potential.

3 out of 5 stars Over hyped / stunning visuals/ Short game   November 17, 2007

Like Heavenly sword the hype of the game ruined its actual reputation when you play it and finish it in literally less than a day. The stunning visuals are breathtaking but for a serious gamer, the AI isn't as crazy as reports had said and the game its self is an easy version of Prince of persia. This game isn't anything new, but a Prince of Persia with Large amounts of Crowds and more area to cover. Yes the graphics are phenomanul, yes the game looks great. Overall a huge let down. They promised us smart AI that react to what ever you do? you get crowds reacting 2 ways in different missions. Don't drop 60 bucks for this game, Get it used for 20-30.

5 out of 5 stars A must have this year!!!!   November 16, 2007

Brilliant game, lots of fun. It's like a little of mixture of gta, prince of persia and hitman.
...what are you waiting for? Just buy the game already!!!!

5 out of 5 stars This game is a showpiece - Not to be missed   November 16, 2007
This game is truly a showpiece in how to make a unique game in a unique setting that offers a compelling single player experience. It is not the typical first-person shooter which are certainly a dime-a-dozen right now on PS3 and XBox360. It truly makes you feel the part of an assassin and it gives you the opportunity to explore vertically like no-game before it has.

I rent almost all my games now (from Gamefly) but I decided to buy this game and I am really glad I did. It really benefits from taking it easy and absorbing the game at a fun pace. Ratchet and Clank is the game to rent (also a great game for PS3) and Assassin's Creed is the game to buy.

There are a few issues but the overall product is so much fun that this one game convinces me that I made the right choice in buying the PS3.

4 out of 5 stars Assassination   November 15, 2007

This game is quite something, it brings unique gameplay and flexibility. I really enjoy doing the side missions and trying to figure out how to plan the assassinations. You really can play however you'd like, depending upon your own style.
Personally, I think the best part is just having fun and running along the rooftops.
Graphics are great, everything looks visually stunning. Gameplay and cinematics are seemless and interactive.
