1 out of 5 stars worst beta ever   September 17, 2008

Was fun when I got to play but I was either down due to the memory leak, or for them to put in their 5 hour updates. Half the quests don't work and the other half don't spawn fast enough for the the players trying to get them done. Now they keep adding new content instead of fixing the bugs they admit they have. They are running a test server and pretty much add the content the testers are demanding. Sounds like it would be a good deal to put imput in a game but if you are compound problems with your demands it doesn't work. All I heard is if you don't like it quit, so I did. Maybe will try it again in a few months.

1 out of 5 stars bored and cancelled   September 17, 2008

last week in anticipation of warhammer online i cancelled my account to AoC and overall very disappointed in it. it just wasn't fun from the start. i tried to "make" it fun by getting more into the quests and pvp, but it just seemed very unpolished and got boring.

i would save you money and i can tell you already that i am having more fun playing warhammer online in 3 days then i did in 3 weeks playing AoC.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste money   September 15, 2008

Features that are STILL advertised as being part of this game but do not exist:

Drunken Brawls
"Optimized for DirectX 10"

Features in the game that are heavily broken:

Siege Battles
PvP Combat
Crafting
Tier 2+ Raiding

See the PC requirements listed for the game? The recommended is really the minimum. You need an incredibly beefy system to run this game and have it look pretty. It is more of a system hog than Crysis. PVP is very unbalanced ATM; better have a full crafted set with gems. Raiding: Tier 2 is busted. Wanna take part in sieges? You're out of luck. They don't work!

Wanna level to 80? Be prepared to spend lots of level grinding the same mobs over and over and over. This grind is 100X worse than any other MMO I've played. Wanna get a group together and do an instance or 2 while leveling? Hardly anyone is playing anymore, so this is an almost impossible task!

Like having the game crash every 2 hours? Just run it on a system with 2gb of memory. How about every 4 hours? Run it on a system with 4gb!

Don't waste your time or money on this game. Much better are around if you look ( cough *warhammer* cough ).

4 out of 5 stars Is it worthy?   September 13, 2008

I have two high levels characters in AoC and with more than 100 hours of gameplay. If you are trying to decide if it is worthy to join Hyborian adventures, stop reading reviews and posts and I'll tell you why. In one side of the coin you'll find in most gaming websites that the game has in average a high and outstanding score. On the other hand there are tons of gamer's reviews pointing out the numerous bugs the game has, the lack of content in higher levels, a PVP broken system, and even a boring combat system with a broken storyline.

So in the third month after releasing the game I decided to stop reading those posts of frustrated gamers and bought the game since I hold myself long enough to experience all the hip about the game. Was it worthy? I just cannot stop playing it everyday. Does the game still have many bugs? Honestly, I don't know if it is because my computer was specially randomized to play AoC, or Funcom had already solved mayor bugs by the time I started to play, but I haven't experienced those problems allowing me to have fluid and uninterrupted hours of gaming. Is the game lack of content? Only in high levels, but until you get there, you'll have numerous quests by travelling from city to city and town to town. That without mentioning more content is being added and I can certify that. And let me tell you, I've been playing AoC every single day since I have it, and it is not that fast to reach the cap 80 level, unless you don't have a live and anything else to do other than play AoC 24/7. Is the PVP system broken? Right now yes, but it is supposed to be fixed very soon, maybe already by the time you're reading this. What about the storyline? I have even read that the storyline is broken after level 20 and others after level 40. Did those people really played the game? The storyline is definitely not broken. You start playing with the main goal of finding your destiny with which you travel through the cities finishing quests that by itself have a story involved on it that gives you a convincing reason to do the quest. Is the combat system really engaging? Of course, it is unique and engaging since through the levels you gain more combos and abilities that keep you willing for more. In addition, there is a diverse character option that allows you to experience different types of combos for every character and a totally different armor and weapon set depending on the class.

So in overall let me try the question "is it worthy?" again. You know what, for $35 you can get the game in Amazon, allowing you to play a month for free. If you don't like it you can resell it. But don't let that opinions from other people drag you away from experience by yourself this game that in my personal opinion deserves a high score for quality and entertaining.

I anticipated a highly entertaining mmorpg with cutting edge everything, but found the game to be slow on my quad core gaming machine, slightly choppy animation, average looking characters, unrealistic water, a lack of imagination in visual design, a highly instanced world, and very little humor. Disappointed and no longer playing it, this game turned out to be a waste of my money.
