Logic Puzzles Around Every Corner February 22, 2008 I haven't had this much fun with a DS game in ages.
Around every corner is a logic puzzle or riddle that tantilizes those parts of your brain that too many of us let atrophe once we're no longer in math class.
The subject matter might be ok for teenagers or kids (mild murder mystery story), but as an adult I'm having a great time with this game, its pace and its reward structure.
Can't wait for the next one! February 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an extremely addictive game. The storyline, characters, interaction, and most importantly the puzzles are all astounding. The puzzles range from easy to difficult depending on the player but with such an interesting story to fall back on, I can assure that all gamers who enjoy puzzles would have a blast with this one. The original Japanese versions already have a second game out with a third on its way. I can't wait for the second English version to come out!
Game of the Year contender February 20, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just a quick summary for anybody who isn't already convinced that this is a "must own" game for the DS. Great story, great presentation (there are even video clips with excellent voice acting), nice and stylized graphic feel that sets the mood perfectly, and even a feature I have never seen in a game before - a story recap when you resume from a save game, so you remember where you were (great if you save, then pick it up a couple weeks later).
And of course, the puzzles are incredibly fun and challenging. All of these things combined make for an absolutely top notch game, one which I hope to see at least nominated for a GotY award.
WOW Amazing Game February 20, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
HI, This is a great game. I love it. I saw it in the ad with the nintendo ds and it look interesting. I went to Best buy to check it out. The cover look like just another boring game. Most of the games they sell are boring except for the super mario stuff. I put this one back on the shelf. I still wonder about this game everyday. Final I decide to do a search for the game reviews on line. Boy was it good 9.0. I decide to get it the next day. I was surprise it was great. I want to get it for me an my son. He is ten and some of the puzzle are hard for him but it better then the big brain games. This help him increase his thinking skills. It get him to focus on a task. Only thing I wish the game would do was continue the dialog instead of just a voice dialog in the beginning. I guess that might take up more space. Also be able to turn off hints. Instead of finding hint coins. Some time my son cheats a little. It better to play the game without cheating. The free weekly download is great too. I hope they keep the update for a long time. 120 plus puzzle is great. Lot of play time. Great to play and great game to pass it along to other people friends who own ds.
Bad Professor Layton! Very Bad! February 20, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Professory Layton is a bad game. I skipped a shower on Saturday, failed to do my laundry, cook meals (hot pockets aren't that bad actually) and didn't want to leave the house. My back hurt from spending days on the couch, I slept poorly and I took a long lunch yesterday to keep playing!!!!
This game is addicting. I bought in on Friday night and by Sunday afternoon I completed it. I was up all night until 3 am on Sunday morning, slept a few hours and wittled away my afternoon on the couch.
Although, I am still trying to locate 3 of the puzzles within the game. I clocked close to 13 hours on this stupid thing within the first 48 hours of owning it. I do admit, several of the puzzles did require pen and paper. The 33,333 was the most difficult for me. But many of the puzzles just require you to read it carefully to understand it and the answers are sort of a "DUH!" once you "get it."
The story is aptly termed "a light hearted mystery." It's fun, interesting, creative, easy to follow, but most of all challenging and intriguing.
I highly recommend this game and if you want to wait about another week, I'll be selling mine. jennw84@gmail.com
Save your dough and don't buy Brain Age, this is a lot better!
