I'm definitely a Nintendo era kid. I grew up more with the SNES, and of course Mario dominated the game industry in all sense of the word. I LOVED Super Mario World and Super Mario 64. Then... finally a new Mario game was to be released on the GameCube. I picked this up not too long ago and don't get me wrong, it's imaginative, kid/ adult friendly, graphically beautiful and all the other intuitive things the Mario franchise has built itself on. BUT... it lacks some of the things that made all the other Mario games so wonderful. Remember the blocks from all the other Mario games? They are virtually gone along with many other elements that made Mario games so unique. Rest assured though, Super Mario Sunshine still retains much of its classic Super Mario 64 feel. I really like this game, I just wish it was a little less modernized.
The ultimate Mario game February 15, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can't believe some of these reviews say this game is terrible. Ignor them! Anyway, Super Mario Sunshine is very fun and enjoyable. Mario is taking a relaxing vacation to Isle Delfino. But when he arrives, the place covered with sludge and graffiti. To top that, you are the blame for the mess! Thats when the adventure starts.
The game graphics are spectacular, exspecially the water. The water shows reflections of nearby objects and slow, rolling waves.
Mario has a partner in this game. Its a robotic, water blasting backpack named FLUDD. You can drench monsters and boost up in the air with him. But there are times when you get FLUDD stolen and you have to go through obstacle courses without him.
Oh yeah, Yoshis are back too. You can ride on the little dinosaurs and they spew juice at enemies. The Yoshis have to eat fruit constantly or soon they will dissapear and go back into thier eggs.
That's my short and sweet review. Buy this game!
One of Nintendo's Greatest Mario Hits February 12, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Here is a legend in the books. This is one of the funnest Mario games of all time. This was absolutely awsome. As soon as I started playing I couldn't stop. I think I played it for about three months straight. It is not that I couldn't beat it, it was that I was playing around trying to get blue coins and such. This is one game, even though I am a kid trust me, you will not be dissapointed with.
Possibly the Best Mario Game Ever! February 6, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
SMS is amazing. There's nothing else to say. Its gameplay is flawless, its music and setting infectious. The variety of objectives, and the amount of these, is amazing. The game is a joy to play again and again, and it has stunning stylized graphics and water effects. I couldn't recommend this game more. The only way this game could have been better is if the camera wasn't as problematic as it is. Otherwise, there are no problems here. One of the must-have games on the GameCube.
