Diablo 2 December 24, 2007 Overall a fun game. The main drawback is that they replaced the character classes from the first game instead of expanding on them. Being someone who loved Fable:The Lost Chapters, I really liked the socketed weapons and armor.
This Game is the Stuff December 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Simply put, this game isn't the type of RPG that you will get a heart touching storyline or even a rewarding sense of completion once you beat the game. Once the story is over, the real game begins. The endless battle to the top of the ladder will keep you hooked for months. It will haunt you at work, in class, and durring your bathroom breaks. This Game has what all these new MMORPGs are lacking, and thats Basic Combat. If I wanted to slice a monsters head off with a sword, there won't be a 3 second attack delay for me. I would swing that S**T harder and faster than Barry Bonds. I could mince a monsters head in 3 seconds. The MMO's these days are slow, boring, and for players who are afraid of getting killed and losing loot. So they start a guild with other little girls because they can only win in numbers. Diablo 2 is the stuff. When you click, you slice. Its easier than breathing. As far as character creation goes. I don't want to make a bulky warrior woman, or a gay elf that has magical healing powers. The Set character Design is perfect for its individual class. I give this game two thumbs way up. And I will kill myself if they make a Diablo 3 like World of Warcraft.

One of the best PC games ever August 16, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Legendary Diablo2. 7 or 8 years after its release... the genre defining Hack-and-Slash RPG. Still played by many. Addictive, epic, and fun.
1.Combined with the expansion, The best item/loot system in any game, EVER. Simply speaking, this game is about items, obtaining them, using them etc... they can make or brake a character (combat-wise). They can increase your mana or HP pool 10 times... they can make your skills several times more powerful than if you wouldn't had them, etc. Items ranging from ordinarily common to so rare and unique you may never see them drop. The range and spectrum of stats/attributes on items is enormous.
2.Skill/abilities system second only to Guild Wars (imo).
3.Amazing art style (graphically). Lots of shiny J
4.Simple linear story. There are about 20 quests altogether and most are obligatory for advancing the game.
5.Difficulty ranges from stupidly easy to insanely hard.
6.Max lvl is 99 and because of exponential lvling curve it takes lots of grind to reach it.
Online economy in this game is complex. It suffered lots of abuse and different kinds of exploits by less then honest players. Game patches/updates changed many things in the game over and over again.

This game was really fun. I enjoyed playing online with other gamers. The boss battles were intense and challenging, too.
Simply a great game! May 17, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Diablo 2 has taken many, many hours away from my life...but it was too addicting, I couldn't help it! For anyone who likes 2-D style dungeon-crawls (Bulder's Gate, Champions of Norrath, Diablo 1, etc) this is THE game for you! The replayability of this game is phenomenal. There are so many items (various types of weapons, armor, charms, amulets, rings, etc.) and monsters that every single time you play, the experience will be different! You play underground, in deserts, ice caves, forests, jungles, castles, so many places. It can take hours to beat each act (5 in all) and there are three difficulty levels to play (12 Acts total if you play all the way through, 15 with the expansion pack). Hell is the hardest difficulty setting and VERY challenging. There are many sidequests to play, though your main goal is to kill Mephisto, Baal (with the expansion), and Diablo. The characters are more fun than any dungeon crawl type came I have ever played because each class has its own sepcific skills, spells, and auras (30 for each of the 5 classes, 7 classes with the expansion) that it can learn. Because of that, even one class can have several different styles of character by the end of the game. Many people still play this game online, though I have only ever played it offline, single player. I have talked with peopl who play it online, and if you have a fast connection (I only have dial-up) they say it is a lot of fun. So if you want to go back to the classic days before everything was in 3-D, and on massive online servers, Diablo 2 with or with out the expansion (which adds the fifth act to each level of the game), is a fun and challenging way to whittle away hours of your life on the computer!
