4 out of 5 stars Mechy Goodness!   October 21, 2004
Though the graphics are dated, the action is so furious you won't notice it. What makes AC2 stand out is the arena mode, which is missing from Another Age. And, currently, it's cheaper on the used market than AC3.

You can read any of the other reviews to hear about how it funtions, but my personal opinion is that customizing your Mech/Wanzer/Core/Whatever is the real core of this game. During Arena, you don't have to pay for ammo or repairs. In the 30+ missions, you do. And some ammo is very expensive, so you'd want to use energy weapons rather than solid weapons like bullets, grenades, rockets, missles, etc. There are biosensors needed for radars at times. Some heads don't contain those, so you sell a head and buy a head. There is no penalty for selling, you get the same amount of money as you paid. So you'll constantly be swapping things out.

I had, and still have, lots of fun with this title. For $12 used, a great game.

P.s. My favorite: antenna head, big Z core, grenade gun, dual vertical missles, tank tread legs, and rocket interceptors. Yeah!

.......BUY THIS GAME.. (...). If u have cash buy another age.. Can transfer game with money from this to another age. Buy armored core 3 if u like this... They r all cheap cause they r OLD. Dont buy new. Waste of money. u will beat this game in 1 week if u put ur mind to it. If possible try to just rent it.

Great game play. Missions hard and graphics superb. Only problems i had with it was the turning speed was too slow. by the time u did a 360 degree turn , ud be dead. another thing is u have to pay for damages and ammo u waste in a mission. I tend to enjoy far combat and machine guns. I would lose money on almost every mission cuz of my guns.

5 out of 5 stars The best   April 28, 2003
_I could spend all of my 1,000 word limit telling you about how great this game is, but it still would not be fair justice to the game. The gameplay, the storyline, the graphics, the customization, the weapons, just EVERYTHING is absolutely EXCELLENT!
_I have all of the AC games. I have all 3 original ones, both AC2 titles, and AC3. This one is BY FAR the best out of all. I'll admit the weapon selection and mission variety is better in AC2 Another age...but Another Age doesn't have the Arena mode or the Mail section of the game. And most of the storyline is usually told through the emails...so Another Age ends up being just going into missions and blowing stuff up. No storyline progression so you know what you've accomplished in missions, no way to go one-on-one with "proper" (explained in a sec) AC's. So with AC2: AA, you miss a lot.
_What I meant by "proper" is that every AC in the main game has infinite ammunition, a set amount of ap (whether it be more or less than what his AC should have by his parts), infinite energy, experiances no output down, his FCS is never effected by the ECM weapons, so on and so forth. In the arena, the AC's are true to their designs. They only have as much energy as their engines allow. If you hit them with an ECM rocket, their targeting will be effected. If you smack him with enough fire, his health will continue to drop from output down. And if he flies around and fires a lot of energy weapons at you, he'll run out of energy.

_This is the defining Armored Core game. It has EVERY good point from every game. It even beats out Armored Core 3. If you want an Armored Core game, this is it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Armored Core game   December 27, 2002

I've played one or two other AC games, and this one is pretty good. And I have one thing to say...This game rocks!!! (took me a while, cause I didn't have alot of time to play it.)
35 missions, like over 50 arena fighters, and with over 200 parts, it keeps you very busy.

The customization rocks. I love personalizing mechs. And another thing with the customization is you can put color with intricate details and decals.

You start out with a POC AC, but after a few missions or turns in the arena, you can get better parts and WAY better weapons(I mean come on, you think a single shotm, low level rifle rocks!?)

Arena battles are intense and missions can be pretty dang hard. But with the right weapons, you can blow the competition away and finish yer job. Your merc and you work for 3 different companies, who are battling over mars and will do anything even pay large sums of money out to Ravens and sink low by sending them to sabotag the other companies.
I thought the game was pretty good cause it was hard at times and you wanted to throw the controller right through the screen, back of the TV, and through the wall behind it, but it was a challenge.

It got easier when I got better weapons. The first mech was as bad as ppl say, but you need a better gun. I beat the game in like 2 weeks playing time. I'd play it again but it'd take too long.
