 Great Game, even with PS2 games out April 24, 2003

WOW! I went to a local electornics store and saw this in the "pre-owned" section of it, and it was only [money amount]. It looked fun, so I decided to buy it. I thought it would be [bad] graphics, stupid cars, no detail at all...but I was proven wrong.
First, there are a lot of modes you can do; take a ride, undercover, and 7 different multiplayer modes.
Second, I was pleasantly surprised at how big the cities were. I spent 20 minutes in Chicago going on the main highway to Wrigley Field! There were exits, everything! It was the real thing.
Third, though on foot you go very slow, it is cool you can hijack cars. You see a bus, BOOM! Block it with a car or stand in front of it, and you're driving a bus.
I have heard in some reviews that this takes a long time to load. WRONG! It takes like 8 seconds to load everything.
The mission were tough, but I beat it after a million tries. That is basically the only drawback.
Overall, this is a great, cheap buy. It's GTA without guns.

THIS GAME IS OK ITS PRETTY FUN THOUGH AT TIMES BUT HAS A FEW DOWN FLAWS.ONE OF THEM IS YOU CANT HIT PEOPLE WITH YOUR CAR.THE OTHER ONE IS WHEN YOU GO UP TO PEOPLE THEY RUN AND GO THROUGH WALLS.OTHER THAN THAT ITS PRETTY FUN.IF IT DIDNT HAVE THOSE FLAWS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD GAME.CONCLUDING IT WAS KIND OF A DISSAPOINTMENT.

This game has what you'd expect from a sequel, same game with more and different stuff. I think the people who say it's much worse then the original must see that game with rose colored glass. The graphics are almost the same as the first, there are four cities(levels), as opposed to three in the first game and there are many more vehicles to chose from.This game tries to have a much more interesting story line the the first, and fails badly. Some of the cut scene are interesting in a 30 second clip sort of way, but the story line makes no sense and many scenes don't fit in the story line. The reason I'm given it four stars is because of a game play grip. They took out the option of turn off the auto hand brake. I played the first game with auto hand brake off, and having it on forced me to change my driving style. The rating also considers the game as of when it was released. GTA3 and GTA Vice city have a driving component that's at lest as good as this game, much better graphics,(not surprising running on a platform that's more the 5 years newer), a third person shooter component and a better story line. The only reason to get this game over GTA is if you find GTA offensive, or you have a PS1 but no PS2.

Driver (the first 1) was one of the best games of 1999 so it was understandable that a follow up would be made. It's just such a shame that Driver 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first one or for that matter any, any other game for the PSone in 2000.For a start the graphics are horrendous! They compare to the likes of the first Playstation games made- it just doesn't look real at all!
Secondly, the missions are way too hard! Unless you're a games expert you'll find even the easiest mission here hard and boring.
Thirdly, the gameplay isn't very smooth and when there's more things around you (e.g. cars and policemen), your car moves slower.
Lastly, the game is unrealistic in a bad way. You can't run people over and the Police are just stupid! Another incredibly false thing that takes place is you can often go for miles on a main road and not come near another car! The only thing I'd say is enjoyable about Driver 2 is just "Taking A Ride" around Chicago and seeing how fast you can ram into another car. If you're looking for a PSone 'car' game then buy the original Driver. If you're looking for any car game then definitely get 'Vice City' instead.

Attention all game freaks! This game rules, seriously, it is awesome! Worth every cent! I could play this game all day, or even forever! Yes, the graphics [stink], but the greatness of the game TOTALLY makes up for the [poor] graphics. You get to drive around, steal cars, school buses, trucks, firetrucks, and if you are lucky, you will be able to steal police cars.You can also ramp bridges, totally insane! I dont understand why it is rated teen though, because if your kid knows good enough not to steal cars, then this game will not do any harm, its great!
