4 out of 5 stars Works great   November 17, 2007
It has been over 2 years since I bought this and it still seems to do the job.

5 out of 5 stars Sandisk memory sticks a must   October 29, 2007

My Sandisk memory sticks are a must have component to my computer operations since losing a almost new 40Gb Seagate hard drive back in August. I use the 512Mb and 256Mb sizes since Windows 98SE is my preferred operating system. With the help of a batch file created by me, I merely place one of a dozen memory sticks in the USB port on the front of my eMachines computer and let the batch file back-up the graphics, web site, text file, digital photos, program source files or ?whatever? to that spedific stick - giving me daily back-ups of stuff that's too valuable to lose in a fire or hard drive crash.

One stick is around my neck and is used to download files from the internet while at a remote computer (public library, for instance) that can be saved on my home computer later. It also holds the daily updates to the dozens of web sites I maintain that are uploaded at the much faster high speed public library computers.

This item was well worth the fabulous price that I paid for it! It more than paid for itself, and was the best purchase I ever made on Amazon. This was not only a bargin but a steal, and I don't know what I ever did without this product. It was smaller than I expected but that was great, and it holds a ton of documents as well as pictures and MP3 downloaded music! The SanDisk Cruzer worked great with my computer and is compatable with every Microsoft XP and Vista program that I have used so far. The SanDisk Cruzer flash drive was small enough to fit every USB port that I plugged into without the need of an adapter even when I wasn't using my own computer. It was a great buy!

5 out of 5 stars SanDisk Cruzer PocketCache Backup Software   July 22, 2007

Works great! I was so please with the ease of use that I bought two more similar SanDisk flash drives, with different capacities.

There did seem to be one small fluke with the Trial version of the PocketCache backup software. The trial version of the backup software, PocketCache, claims to do incremental backups (i.e. only backs up files that have changed since the previous snapshot backup) but when I tried this the second snapshot backup seemed to take just as long as the first, even though only a few files had been changed. However, the next time I did a snapshot backup indeed it took only a few seconds, as it should, and only added a few KB to the size of the backup file. If this continues to work as it should, it could be a very convenient solution to maintaining current backups of your large and frequently updated folders, such as your My Documents folder.

I use this USB stick on a number of computers without any problems, including MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4), WinXP, and Win98. I had to download a driver from the SanDisk website for Win98, but that's true of any USB device for Win98. It's even detected by WinXP running inside of OS X.

The free security software that comes with it is a great bonus. As great as everything works, I would buy a larger capacity (1 GB or more) if I were buying it now because of how much I use this device.
