4 out of 5 stars One sweet drive...   February 8, 2008
As most of you probably know, the reason for buying this product over others is because of data protection. With the alleged ability of the Cruzer Titanium to withstand 2,000 pounds of pressure, worrying about losing your data in a freak accident is greatly reduced. While I've not tested this claim, I don't really feel the need to do so: I'm willing to take them at their word. On top of this, the Cruzer is one slick looking drive, and the ability to slide the USB port in and out of the housing makes me worry even less about breaking it (not to mention adding to the attractiveness).

However, I have run into a few small inconveniences with it. For one, sometimes it is difficult to slide the port in and out (it seems to get hung up), though this isn't a big issue. A somewhat bigger issue is the size of the drive - it's long, and doesn't fit very well next to other USB connections. When I bought this product, I also purchased a 2GB Cruzer Titanium U3, and I noticed that this Cruzer was twice as long as the 2GB, and a little thicker. Sometimes it seems like it might fall out of the USB port after I plug it in, though it hasn't yet.

Despite these niggling drawbacks, I still am satisfied with my purchase (especially at the price). Data protection is more important to me, and at least with that I have no worries.

1 out of 5 stars Great look, hard to use, not robust, lost our data   January 28, 2008
We bought this unit to be a solid, albeit pricey, device for our professional needs. Though spiffy looking and promising advanced features, it proved difficult to use and died less 3 years after *very* little use. The same held true for a 1GB unit we bought later.

Pros:
Looks pretty, worked when it worked.

Cons:
1. The shirt clip gets in the way of use and was more bother than it was worth.
2. The thumb slider to extract the plug was so hard to use it often broke a nail. Then, eventually, it became too easy to use and failed to keep the plug extended making it hard to insert.
3. Though less than many, the extra width of the case so near the plug made it difficult to insert in tight USB receptacle areas.
4. Early Death: After less than 100 uses over 3 years, the unit died. It flashed once upon insertion then failed to be recognized. This was proven on 10+ USB jacks on 6+ systems. Flashes once, then nothing. All data lost.
5. As is often cited, the ring that you insert into the unit that the lanyard clasp attaches too was insanely difficult to insert.

Bottom Line:
A very attractive unit of poor operational design, not robust, not worth the price and lost all our data. At best, when it worked it just worked. We have scratched Sandisk from our quality vendor list. Had the unit not been used so very little, we might have given it 2 stars.

1 out of 5 stars faulty product   January 26, 2008
SanDisk flash drives have a really short life compared to lexmark, A-Data, and other USB flash drives. It worked fine for a short while and died. I have older smaller memory flash drives made by other companies that I purchased well before my SanDisk ones and they are all still working. I've found I'm most happy with A-Data's Jogr due to the price and lifetime warranty(all USB devices will eventually ware out the connection but SanDisk wares out unreasonably fast). Not all USB flash drives by the same company are the same, I do have one flimsy plastic cased 128MB one from SanDisk that is still working fine.

5 out of 5 stars Good Design   December 31, 2007
Good design. No cap to lose, just slide the USB port back into the stick. I would opt for a larger size if you plan on using it regualarly. At least 2 GB.

2 out of 5 stars Better off with the newer model   December 19, 2007
This drive is good for 2 months or so. Then the rubber glue that holds the case gets worn out and the case pops open. I sent mine to sandisk at least 4 times. Good thing they pay for the shipping to and from your house. Sandisk has good customer support, but they take a long time to go through the process.

The newer model has a cheaper case, but it does not come apart.
