Don't waste your money on one of these. The transfer rate is nothing like what is claimed. I have other USB hard drives and flash thumb drives that all work great, but this Samsung device is the pits.
Here's a real example:
7 minutes to copy 50 Mb. That's about 125kbps. It's laughable that in the literature they claim 'up to' 480MBps.
I'd give it zero stars if it could. Like another reviewer, I got sent this after ordering a Seagate through an Amazon seller. I ended up using Amazon's A-Z guarantee to get my money back. This item is trash.

Works wonderfully. No problems whatsoever, contrary to the other review. Ridiculous amounts of storage for the price. If you're constantly having to transport large amounts of data like I am, stop wasting DVD+R's (and your time) and get one of these little guys.

I got this hard drive by mistake from an order of the Seagate 5GB hard drive.
I tried to use it anyway. It requires to reboot my OS after the "Found new hardware" installation finished.
After I rebooted my system, i copied couple of files from C drive to it. There was memory errors during the copy process and the drive became unreachable.
I unplugged it from my system and plugged it back. The copied items are reachable again.
This problem happens consistently with a couple of trials.
I returned the product to the seller.
No password protection.
