Reasonably fast, solid build, great price February 15, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just received my DataTraveler 2GB USB Drive. After reformatting as FAT32, I transferred a 859MB folder with subfolders to my drive. The results were:
Write Speed: 859MB in 7.35 minutes = 1.948 MB per sec Read Speed: 859MB in 2.95 minutes = 4.853 MB per sec
I am using an IBM X41 Tablet PC with Windows XP Pro, which has a slow hard drive, but faster than this USB drive I assume, so I don't think it affected speed measurements. Not too scientific, but real world time for sure. At this price, this seems like a nice little drive. - Noel
What a DEAL! February 13, 2007 Sure glad I picked up on this great price. 2GB for only $24.99? Might have to purchase another one.
amazing product February 13, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I strongly recommend this USB drive. Its small size makes it easy to slip into your pocket, and also makes it easy to fit into even crowded USB ports. My previous drive did not fit into my USB ports without moving other USB drives out of the way. I don't have that problem with the Kingston drive.
I have also never had any reliability problems with this drive. On another drive, I had issues with files getting corrupted (particularly if I didn't "safely remove hardware.") However, I have never had that problem with the Kingston drive.
As others have mentioned, it doesn't have a lanyard which is rather strange...but not a deal breaker.
if you want a great drive, at a great price the Kingston data traveler is a great choice.

This lil device is great. I do a lot of traveling, and this really helps me organize my "pictures" and keeps them very convenient and off my hard drive. That way my roommate won't gimme hte big ole' "It's a sin to look at these" sermon. This thumb drive is a life saver!
